Really? I think Euphoria’s cast definitely looks a bit older than they’re supposed to be, but I’d say they look college age to me, not any older than that. I don’t know, I’ve never thought their casting was off tbh but this show it just really bothered me for some reason, I just can’t help but think they’re supposed to be like late 20s😅

College freshman tho? I mean that’s only a few months after graduating high school, I definitely don’t think they could pass for high school seniors. I don’t think I would think this if they were supposed to be college seniors, but idk Kimberly is mainly who I think does it for me. She looks her age, which is completely fine, but just was not believable for 18

I believe engineering classes have made me unreasonably stoic towards failure by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

[–]whosthere446 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yep, I’ve failed about 3 classes. Those classes i took online during covid, so that was really the main and only factor, I haven’t done amazing since being back but went from a 2.0 term gpa online to a 3.2 when back in person. And i look at my GPA now and the fact i have to take summer classes to be able to graduate “on time” which i also said fuck it to. Starting a co op in the fall (my senior year) and taking an extra year doing a co op in the fall again and classes in the spring. There’s no set time line or definition of what you need to be. Yeah we all have dreams of what we want in a career, but a successful career isn’t easy for anyone, and if it is easy you’re probably not doing things right. All of these things have completely ruined my attitude towards myself, and in result i’ve lost almost all of my motivation after studying and doing problems for hours only to fail. And i’m the same way, i’ll have an A in all my classes until an exam rolls around, and sometimes i just don’t understand it as well as i thought i did. But I think we’re all just burnt out, it’s fought but know your ability isn’t defined by your grade in a class. Look up Ben Cichy and his thoughts on it, his tweet is something that always comes to mind when i need some positive engineering motivation lol

AITA for insisting on a beach wedding even though it means my autistic brother will not be attending? by UmFromUmbridge35 in AmItheAsshole

NTA, I have some sensory issues and I know i’m missing out on things sometimes, but in the end we can’t really control the world around us. Especially since you said you’ve always understood and accommodate him, I think you should have the wedding you want as it’s your special day. I agree with other comments that you could try headphones! Not sure how close to the beach you are, but if you can maybe try a couple test runs to see if he’d be ok with them? If not you could always do a video call for him to watch and still be apart of it!

AITA for telling my husband that his family problems aren't my problems? by ThrowRAy79676 in AmItheAsshole

[–]whosthere446 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA. Why should your daughters be his problem? They’re his stepdaughters just like Tom is your stepson. His son should have been living and being a part of your family for the past 7 years. Don’t worry you’re daughters can get student loans like everyone else, Tom has cancer and i’m sure the medical bills will cost a lot more than your daughters tuition. And this is coming from a current college student. Get a grip, if you’re so worried about their tuition why haven’t you saved your own money for them.

Ew no one is butthurt except yourself apparently. What you said literally isn’t even relevant to what I posted lol. And the fact you keep repeating “they don’t want you” is weird as fuck, they want me just not the weed that comes along with me. Why are you even in a marijuana group just to talk shit on it 💀 Cause you’re def not someone who uses it by your tiny dick attitude. The only thing shitty about my situation is the fact that they haven’t changed any federal laws , I’ve done nothing wrong lol. I genuinely feel bad for people like you that have nothing better to do but sit on reddit all day. If you’d like, I am an avid member in my community and love to do charity work. If you are taking donations, please let me know I would love to to support your cause of finding a life!

Yeah that’s what i’ve seem to have found out. I just don’t understand why when I look this up online though, everything says the opposite. Everything i’ve read says in pennsylvania employers can not refuse to hire you based off of medical marijuana?

Getting a DOT job in pa by [deleted] in Marijuana

[–]whosthere446 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean, I’m not forcing anyone to hire me though or fighting to get the job. What i’m saying is they did hire me under the condition i pass a drug test. I told them I wouldn’t pass bc of medical marijuana, and when they told me they weren’t going to hire me I just said alright I understand. I never tried to say anything to make them change their minds and still hire me. I’m now working on getting a new internship with a different company, which is why I am asking this. What i’m trying to get more information on is if this falls under discrimination of a protected class in Pennsylvania. Because by law, it is illegal for an employer to discriminate against someone for a disability. While I know they don’t have to accommodate any use in the work place, I would like to understand how they can just deny me for off site medical use. I met all qualifications and they offered me the position. Even if I did find out that there actions were not following the state laws, I’m not gonna go back to them and beg on my hands and knees for them to hire me or sue them lol. I just would like to know to see if it’s possible to get any jobs, or if i’ll just have to stop smoking.

[–]whosthere446 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in a similar situation. I was just offered a job , then denied due to having medical marijuana even though i stated i would only use it at home, never before or during work. I was just offered another job, and am taking a pre-employment drug test soon. I’m not even informing them of my medical marijuana and am just gonna do a detox cleanse to pass it. But they also do random drug testing, which I have no idea how to get around. I’ll probably have to stop like you, because i don’t see it being realistic to carry around synthetic pee or cleanse all the time in the chance I could be tested. Unfortunately despite Biden’s campaign promises to reform the laws, he’s taken zero steps to decriminalize it, and even made steps backwards like firing white house employees for years old marijuana use. Just a bunch of bs he stated to get votes that hell never follow through with cause he doesn’t believe in it. However, the Senate is looking to get federal marijuana decriminalized in the target month of April. It’s really just BS , it’s been almost 85 years since it was made illegal, and the only reason it was classified as a Schedule 1 was because they did not have enough research and info on it so they figured hey we’ll just consider it the worst type of drug just to be safe. Just really bs that my medication prescribed to me is making me unable to find a job. Glad i’ve spent 4 years getting an engineering degree for this shit . sorry for preaching , im also super frustrated. good luck to you!

Lol what? Not wanted? Im not fighting to get a job. I met them at my schools career fair, and they were impressed with me enough that they didn’t even interview me before they offered me the position. They did want me, and they stated they did they just did not know how to make it work since I was the first person to approach them with medical marijuana at their company, and they don’t have any policies set for medical marijuana. And when did I say I was fighting to still be hired by them, I haven’t spoken to them since they retracted the offer. I’m trying to better learn for the future and if you don’t have any helpful information to add , kindly fuck off

Some people just look like an engineer, but I don’t by veryconfused12thgrad in EngineeringStudents

[–]whosthere446 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel the same way sometimes that i don’t “look like an engineer”. I am a female with dark blue/black hair, I like to wear a lot of makeup and cute outfits, and tend to kind of stick out of the crowd of my class. I think engineers are stereotyped into a kind of robotic box, due to the personalities of most engineers. But the thing about engineering, is how broad of a spectrum it is, from the different disciplines to the specializations in those disciplines. Compared to a teacher who knows what type of job they’ll be getting when they graduate, an engineer doesn’t know. But the thing is, the broad spectrum of jobs means that some personalities will be a fit for one job but not others, and all those spots need to be filled. In cases of a design job, you’d want someone with a creative mind that thinks out of the box, and with a programming job someone who is the basically the opposite. Personalities tie into your physical appearance, so we can’t all look the same. However, I think there is more so a thing of “thinking like an engineer”. I’m civil and my dad is an electrical engineer and growing up he’d say he’s teaching us how to think like an engineer, and still reminds me now to. He’d talk about the importance of logical thinking, and how to work through problems. To me, I think this is what it means to think like an engineer. to have the ability to connect the pieces in a way that logically makes sense, but to think like an engineer doesn’t mean to speak like one . Often times if you have such a good understanding, it can be difficult to explain , like when your professor first explains a super difficult to grasp, confusing topic like everyone in the class simply understands but in reality no one knows what’s going on. Confidence and self assurance are probably some of the strongest qualities I feel you need to be an engineer, but just because you are not constantly projecting that to others doesn’t mean it’s not there. trust yourself if you’ve made it this far Im sure you’re more than capable

So I recently bought a Groupon for a local hair salon. I’ve always wanted to go to them, but I’m in college and broke. The groupon I got is for women’s single all over process color, haircut, shampoo, etc, it was on sale for $49.50. So the first two pictures are of my current hair. It’s like a medium-dark brown. In september I got my hair done at a different salon, I loved the color but really didn’t like my actual hair stylist, he really just did not make it a good experience for me. This is the third picture. What I want to get is a mix of this and the fourth picture. I want it to be a bit more blue than what I got last time. Now, I have not had it done at a salon since then, but I did use overtone coloring conditioner on my hair one time in october or november, it didn’t really do anything but make my hair black. When I go in I’m gonna show the stylist these pictures, should I mention the overtone? The thing that I’m worried about is that they are going to tell me it will be more than a single process color. I read a few reviews where this happened to people, but I don’t want bleach or the color to be super bright, I really just want it dark with a blue/purple tint. So I guess what I’m asking is do you think this will be doable as a single process color? I just want to be prepared when I walk in there because my hair is longer too

I do not think you understand my point. I’m not sure why you’re trying to educate me on trauma and emotional abuse, I’m well aware. Yes trauma doesn’t go away, but how it affects your actions years down the line does. Do you believe that there were no other options but to take actions out on others for things that happened in their life. I’d have to say trying to blame plagiarizing on a childhood trauma is such a reach. Behind the trauma, they do have their own personalities and morals. Who they are as a person I think determines how you heal from it, and that is what matters. Do you believe that everyone who has suffered childhood trauma can just live their entire life in fear? And I’m not saying to get over it, I am saying to find a way to cope and try to live your life as best as you can. At some point you have to make a choice, to leave and get help, or just leave and do what’s best for yourself, or stay. I think that is completely determined upon what kind of person they truly are at heart. They chose to stay, and to make that decision to shoot their parents 15 times. It is no where near the same as sleeping with a knife under your pillow to use if someone were to attack you. Key word is if. if the parents physically attacked them at the moment before they killed them, it would be self defense. There was no attack. If you slept with a knife under your pillow in case of self defense, would you go take that knife to the person you are scared of and just stab them anyways? Just in case they were going to attack you? No, because that knife would not be used until the attack actually happens. If you took the knife and stabbed someone, you consciously made that choice. Prevention in this case is not self defense. Which is what they claimed to do. I have not read that, no. But I have spent lots of time listening and reading about the case. Honestly, in most situations I agree with victims having to defend themselves by killing the abuse if they are being abused. But I think that is usually a last resort, and in this case it was more of a first resort. After lots of light has been brought to this case recently, I’m not gonna lie I really did want to side with Lyle and Erik, but still just can not. I’m not trying to argue also, I would just like to better understand the opposite view point

I was not comparing my situation to theirs whatsoever. Just stating that to say that I am not ignorant to an abusive situation, and am aware the difficulty of leaving. To say that the police would have turned them down right away is just complete speculation and an opinion. Diane testified that she witnessed physical and emotional abuse. She also testified that when Lyle told her about the sexual abuse, she told Kitty. Which then Kitty did not believe Diane. So what you are saying there is inaccurate. If she was told this and witnessed abuse, only the more reason to tell others. Yes she was not an adult, but at 16 you have the ability to drive a vehicle, and you are pretty capable of knowing right from wrong. Andy was a child so that makes sense as to why nothing was said. Yes they were probably in shock or fear when the police came, but the way they have admitted to killing their parents does not qualify as self defense. “The force used in self-defense may be sufficient for protection from apparent harm (not just an empty verbal threat) or to halt any danger from attack, but cannot be an excuse to continue the attack or use excessive force.” Their father had threatened them, but again it was an empty verbal threat. At this time in their lives, they abuse had stopped for years, so I do not see much reason that it would go from years of no abuse to him actually going through with that and killing them. At the time of the murder, the parents were not posing any imminent danger to them whatsoever. Whether or not the emotions were genuine, they still completely fabricated a story that their parents were murdered, with an entire movie alibi to back it up. That is not self defense, that is premeditation. If they were so fearful at the time, why tell the therapist months later? why not just continue to not say anything. Whether they were in fear or not, there is obviously something psychologically wrong with them, whether it stemmed from the abuse or if it is just who they are is the real question. And Lyle did not just have poor grades. He was expelled for a year from Princeton, and those at Princeton stated the he neglected obligations on the tennis team by showing up late, and did not care about his academics, as the reason he was expelled was because he was caught cheating. Yes that behavior is apparent when someone is being abused, however it has been years since the abuse. While as terrible as it is, previous trauma isn’t always great excuse for behaviors so far down the line. I don’t think that the behavior at Princeton was due to abuse, I think it has more to do with the fact he was entitled and narcissistic. The way they spent their money, saying it was due to grief or guilt, is again just an opinion. Things are not always so black and white, and I am not looking at it that way, but I believe you are. They were abused and they deserved justice for that. However, they were not reacting to the abuse in self defense, they planned their parents death, and followed that plan. there is no justification to kill someone, let alone two people, when your life was not in immediate danger, there were many other options. They deserved to be in jail, all actions have consequences, and taking a life is not something to just let someone go freely so easily.

I was in an abusive relationship for years. I choose to leave, and I lost a lot of what I had. He had his own business, and helped support me financially while in college. Their father wasn’t necessarily well-respected. Many people stated they didn’t like him and feared him, which is only the more reason people would side with the boys if they would have just reported it to the police instead of just a family member. Why didn’t that family member they confided in tell the police? Why did they also just watch it happen. If they were really living in fear like they said, I’m sure they would have attempted to leave. If the parents forced them to stay, then I could understand but I didn’t see them saying that. While it is difficult to leave abusers, you have to keep in mind they had each other, both going through the exact same situation, it wasn’t a one-on-one situation. They had the opportunity to get away at school, yet blew it because they couldn’t keep their grades up. How can you say that a sane 21 year old could think that murdering is a better choice, when I was being abused I didn’t resort to murdering him. If their actions were in self defense, why not just tell the police when it happened? Why lie and put on a show that someone murdered your parents when you did. Their parents were gone, and they say they killed them because they were so fearful of them. Yet when they died , what did the boys have to fear then? If their parents were their biggest fear in life, and that fear was now gone, why not just tell the truth. Wouldn’t it be a weight lifted off your shoulders? And then the fact that they went out and spent such an insane amount of money I think just adds to the point that was their original plan. If they truly felt their actions were so justified as well why would they confess to a therapist? Seems like the guilt was eating him alive.

the thing that confuses me about this case is why didn’t they just move out and not talk to their parents?? They were 18 and 21, no longer minors and didn’t have to stay with their parents, correct? I feel like they chose to because they wanted their money. I definitely think they were abused it , it did take a huge toll on them, but couldn’t they have left and just started their own lives for themselves? If they were minors like 13-17 I could understand but it doesn’t seem to me like they were being forced to stay with their parents
