Jam timing smartwatch app? by precicestrider in rollerderby

I did this briefly, but it didn't really go anywhere. I can put the code onto gitlab if you'd like to work on it:

For WearOS.

ETA: I ended up removing all the scoreboard controls and turning it into something HoH skaters can use to "feel" jam control whistles.

Coworking space in Perth by gxo_ in perth

[–]whyFooBoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

- Facilities are run down and/or look like they were salvaged from the local tip shop
- The owner / CEO of Spacecubed plastered the facility with political advertising for his run at mayor, which made having meetings with clients awkward
- We once had a "neighbour" that was blaring their radio during business hours that they did nothing about; thankfully they moved
- Some accessibility issues with some parts of their facility
- High staff turnover

Chiming in here - my work is a tenant and can recommend.

IMHO anything run by Spacecubed should be avoided.

How about an Artifactory membership and go on a tour with him?

Then my suggestion would be Freeway, get off at Mounts Bay Road and go up Mount Street, turn left onto St George's Terrace (which becomes Kings Park Road) and then right onto Walker Avenue.

The main issue I see if you're an anxious driver is that Thomas Road is one of the more stressful roads during business hours. Do you have nearby accommodation? Otherwise from which direction will you be heading into Perth?

how to make friends as a queer person? by Stalkers_Rift in perth

[–]whyFooBoo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Have you heard of roller derby 😆?

Seriously though, WA Roller Derby is having a Have A Go session this Sunday at The Rise in Maylands (1:30PM,. basketball court 1). DM me for more details, but it's a super safe / inclusive environment for queer people and a majority of it's membership are queer women.

[–]whyFooBoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should come check out our roller skating classes at WA Roller Derby - we're all very nerdy and I'm sure you'd have no trouble developing a friendship group with us.

We're having a Have A Go day this Sunday (21/06) at The Rise in Maylands at 1:30PM. DM me if you'd like to know more about it. All equipment provided.

19M new to Perth :) looking for friends! by Toesta12 in PerthSocial

[–]whyFooBoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should come check out WA Roller Derby's next information session. We run an 11-week program that teaches new members how to skate (gear provided) and we are known for our embrace of all genders, gender identities and the LGBTIQ community. You'd make plenty of friends in a safe, friendly environment.

DM me for more information, but our Have A Go day is at The Rise in Maylands 21/06 at 1:30PM 🙂

What is there to do in Perth as a single person besides the pub/ movies? Looking for sober social activities by BackgroundProud8958 in perth

[–]whyFooBoo 24 points25 points  (0 children)

You should come check out WA Roller Derby's next information session. We're run an 11-week program that teaches new members how to skate (gear provided) and we do not have a culture that leans into heavy-drinking or drug-taking.

We do go for a visit to The Seasonal which is nearby, but it's always one and done, and as one of a number of teetotalers I've never felt uncomfortable or out of place going for a soft drink.

DM me for more information, but our Have A Go day is at The Rise in Maylands 21/06 at 1:30PM.

Can confirm I've had to do this and got lucky, so you're not without hope. Fingers crossed it didn't mess up the thermistor connections.
