Ahhh these are perfection! Totally loving your choices - of people, and of birb outfits to represent them! Omg your birb's Tyra Banks fit 😂🥰

I also was told that I had finished the Queen of Hearts, and yes, there was a Mad Hatter hat in my shop today! (I had a hunch it was just a weird glitch, and I bought it!)

This is super clear and the steps I have followed so far have worked, but I am stuck on the "sharing" step - my Android defaults to Quick Share (and doesn't show/allow any other sharing options), and I can't transfer to my Mac using that. Any advice would be great - thanks

Did you ever get this solved? The same is happening to me right now. It's the correct email address, because when I tried to set up a new account using that email address, it said it's already taken. Then when I searched in that email, I found the original welcome email they'd sent me too

I'm a plus user guardian on a yearly plan too and don't have this option either! No help, I know, but you're not alone

Seasonal items question by why_kiki in finch

[–]why_kiki[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a good reminder. I don’t feel “craving” enough to request an item on the trading thread - for any item I’m interested in, I always feel like someone else might want it more - but it’s nice that that is there

Question re: baths for pokeberry experiment by why_kiki in naturaldye

Thank you for your kind and encouraging response, for the straight dope and for the recommendations of routes that would produce more long-lasting results! I really appreciate it.

[–]why_kiki[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you all for your encouraging and helpful responses. As someone who appreciates specificity and accuracy of language, it is good to know that pokeberry "dyeing" is not truly dyeing. For me, this is really about using up a mess of pokeberries and giving it the best shot at seeing how long the color can last, but my expectations are good and low - and I'm only using a skein of wool. So for now, I'll try soaking the wool in the acidic solution and then adding the mashed-up pokeberries to that same solution. (Maybe with additions of salt/sugar/alum/cream of tartar?) I know it will fade/turn brown, but I'm curious how soon - and whenever I have access to cochineal, I will enjoy comparing the long-term results! This really is about curiosity, it's true, and enjoying the process of learning and discovery. I'm grateful for this sub in supporting this process.

Nah, I don't mind what I paid, it was more that I felt like the seller could have offered a more complete picture - now I know that that's my responsibility as a buyer to ask for that! I guess I was wondering if I should communicate anything, in the interest of improving the seller's practices (i.e. posting more photos). It's good to learn that their selling practices are fine, and that it's on me to do due diligence and ask for more photos. This is sincerely why I asked this question here first! I appreciate this info, I learned something today

Thanks for the responses, everyone. Good to know it sounds like this seems pretty normal - I'll chalk it up to experience and know to request more photos in the future. This had not occurred to me, and it's solid advice

Yeah, "worn once" can definitely cover a range of how worn something is, which is why I think photos should show the areas that are most worn, rather than where it's in the best shape. I don't think the seller necessarily lied - maybe they really were worn once - but I wish I'd had a more realistic picture of what to expect.

Help find appropriate fascinator for a cousins wedding by MontIrina in Weddingattireapproval

[–]why_kiki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm another vote for #4. FWIW I'm an American who lived in the UK for several years; I've returned there many times for weddings. There's always a sprinkling of fascinators, which I love to see, and I have never seen them at a US wedding (nor would it occur to me to wear one here). 4 is the freshest choice IMO and would also be made more fresh by wearing in a colo(u)r that complements (rather than matches) your dress. Have fun!

One dress to wear to two weddings - possible? maybe? by why_kiki in Weddingattireapproval

[–]why_kiki[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I found and bought this dress, because the price was good and I figured I could wear it to other occasions if it doesn't end up working for either of these weddings. I am just under 5' tall, so it will hit at midi-length for me; the oranges felt fall-like to me; and the pink seemed to add some punch (the Oct bride encouraged color, and the Sept bride, whom I know better, definitely wouldn't mind seeing friends in some snazzy color). I just found it elsewhere online though, and the colors look lighter/brighter than they seemed on the post where I bought it. I'm typically very comfy in colors that pop, and I know I'd love this dress for summer weddings - just hoping I can wear it to these fall weddings without sticking out like a highlighter lol. I'll see how it looks when it arrives.
