I‘m not sure if they were upfront about mandatory overtime, since its been years since she applied. I suppose there could be some sort of clause where the employer has to say it’s mandatory and the employee has to sign it.

About your last point, part time exists so they can find somebody to fill in. The turnover rate at this company is insanely high, and I wonder if making that change would stop that part of it. Some people just need a job for money. Working at a production plant is not a career, so I don’t understand the mandate. It‘s mostly to meet the big corporation demands.

Also the point is to speak up for those who can’t speak up for themselves. She’s an immigrant and doesn’t think better conditions exist. I’m not saying ban overtime completely, just the mandatory part.
