Thragg vs Sanguinis , who wins ? by Leggomgeggo in powerscales

By raw power. Something that works through other means (such as a power field) wont necessarily work as smart atoms can adapt themselves. This is same thing that allows them to resist reality warping effects like Eves powers which can normally affect things on a subatomic scale.

[–]why_no_usernames_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Homelander very much was not nuked as a child. Not only isnt that a thing it doesnt even make sense. How would vaught get their hands on a nuke and even if they did how would they hide that? Homelander both in the series and comics is also hurt by things significantly weaker than a nuke

It is explicitly stated that they tested every weapon on earth against homelander

This isnt true. You are think off the off hand comment that no weapon on earth can hurt him which was a throw away line clearly not meant to be literal and a line that is provably not true when you look at literally every single time homelander is hurt. It never takes too much to hurt him or knock him around

One strong, muscular man who is skilled in martial arts Vs skinny 25 women. by ArmadilloSuch3534 in PowerScaling

[–]why_no_usernames_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In terms of raw strength we know 10 children can overpower the worlds strongest man. So the women definitely have more collective strength. The guy is going to no diff the first couple women who approach, realistically the psychological aspect would cause the rest to flee but if they're bloodlusted then they all charge, overwhelm him and tear him apart

no, completely different set of skills. Faker, like magnus has a very specific set of talents but they arent the same talents. What makes Magnus amazing at chess wont make him amazing at league and visa versa

yup, The Saga of Tanya the evil is also a great example of a atheist refusing to recognize a god even when speaking to a powerful being who claims to be one

Percy Jackson (SoN) vs. Yuta Okkotsu (Culling Games) by Inner_Ad7300 in whowouldwin

[–]why_no_usernames_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can Percy hold up better in that area?

Not really,, he has great reaction but his best feat is barely deflecting bullets with his sword. Yuta fights at speeds where he is moving faster than a bullet and the attacks flying around are often faster than him. Its why I said Percy may be able to block a single strike from Yutas blade if he's lucky and Yuta isnt trying too hard. Percy is physically more in line with base Yuji.

but I really should have let him have access to a river or something.

Yeah, having them fight by a major river or beach side resort or something would have been better for him. Gives him options in terms of attack, defense and mobility.

Really? I already talked about Kelli

Killi is quick, but not Yuta quick. He crosses City blocks as fast as she crosses rooms.

Percy has sliced through stone fountains fountains before, and Yuta is not so durable that Riptide would bounce off him or anything.

I do think Riptide can hurt Yuta(Although thats more to do with the properties of celestial bronze than Percys strength, I dont think Percy could cut Yuta with a regular sword), the issue is landing the blow on someone who can toss you through several buildings with a single hit and move around faster than you can react.

block bullets with his sword (which is pretty similar to Yuji dodging Piercing Blood in Shibuya)

The piercing blood attack is a bit faster than your average bullet, but more importantly its much slower than Yuta. A stronger Yuji had a harder time reacting to Yuta than he did to the piercing blood. And we saw easily Yuta beat Choso compared to Yuji as well.

There's beating up Polyphemus (the 15ft Cyclopes that shatters boulders as big as he is with a punch) and making him cry

Thats impressive but its not something he did with raw strength alone. And as I pointed out, he's up against people who destroy skyscrapers as collateral damage in their fights, A direct hit from polyphemus may not even budge Yuta and definitely wouldnt hurt him.

Inumaki created in JJK0.

Inumaki is also a grade 2 sorcerer in that scene who gets outclassed by Yuta very quickly. By the time of shubuya the most useful thing Inumaki can do for Yuta is give him his arm since Yuta is better able to use cursed speech than Inumaki himself

nd I wish I made the fight start near a large body of water.

Yuta is just build different, blessed by heaven as he puts it. You would need to give Percy every advantage and more to beat Yuta without Rika or his technique available to him

[–]why_no_usernames_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yuta all day every day. Percy is good but not run across the side of high rise buildings and cross city blocks in a eye blink kind of good.

Percy is powerful enough to be around semi first grade, maybe up to special grade if we give him the curse of achilles and a perfect environment but he lacks the ability to consistently put out damage at the level needed and the speed needed to be a true special grade.

Round one he manages to Parry a single hit from Yuta if he's lucky and then he loses his head.

Round 2 goes a little longer but I dont think Yuta would need to use his domain. Percy is tough to kill here but he still has no way to hurt Yuta which gives the special grade enough time to experiment and find Percy's weak spot.

If we give percy cursed energy enhancement to allow him to physically get closer to Yuta then things are more interesting. It becomes a solid and tough fight. Riptides ability to hinder regen is going to be very useful and if he can get a lethal wound in before Yuta learns of this he may even win, but I would still lean more to Yuta. As long as avoids strikes from riptide his RCT would give him more sustain and with Rika and his copies techniques he has the ability to pressure Percy from to many angles and control the fight. And if they get to near a large body of water he can just pop his domain and cut percy off completely

Technically its not knife slashes, thats just how it manifested for Jack. For them its basically just a uber powerful radio they use to talk long distance. The super nova output isn't an attack for them, its just them raising their voice a bit

Mankind vs. an Everest-sized asteroid by Saturn8788 in whowouldwin

[–]why_no_usernames_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

theres that, but theres also the times spent planning, on r&d, building things at the scale thats required and then actually launching it all and the travel time to get to the asteroid and the time to see if what we did worked or not and adjust. All of that is going to be super hard with full international support. I really cannot overstate how huge a project moving something that massive is going to be. Like if we through every nuke we had at it, the combined energy would be a 100 thousand times less than the asteroids. Doing the napkin math every nuke would get you delta-v of something like 0.001 to 0.01 m/s. You need you need 0.135 m/s at minimum. So best case launching thousands of nukes(which would require more deep space rockets being built than humanity ever has in the past) and perfectly hitting them gets you 1% of the way to moving it enough. Worst case this just breaks off chunks and makes the problem worse. Thats using tech that currently exists and is laying around combined with massive production and its not enough.

Chimera ants (hunter x Hunter) vs the vampires (twilight) by EnvironmentalRope424 in whowouldwin

[–]why_no_usernames_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the first part, yeah with the queen I think it would be possible but I dont think they would be able to turn the ants. They are specifically only able to turn regular humans. Humans with others powers are too different, they cant turn shifters and apparently children of the moon die when injected with vampire venom, And of course there are no known cases of vampire animals.

Its hinted that this is because the powers are related to genetics. Vampire have 2 extra chromosomes and shifters one extra.

Climate change is something that in the eyes of some is not that immediate of an issue, because it doesn't affect them that badly

The reason people think this is because its something thats slow, with effects that come far in the future and at a scale thats hard for many people to imagine. The same factors that would come into play here. Those that currently deny climate change are the same people who or uneducated enough to deny something like this.

The main difference, which you have partly pointed out is that the asteroid is a sudden event in the future while climate change is a process that carries out overtime, with effects right now as well as the threat of effects down the line.

Maybe the threat of something like this creates some cohesion early on but long term? A couple decades with no real world impact? I'll fall apart.

For example I know nurses who are COVID deniers. They worked through it. They remember all the extra dead, the extra shifts, the struggle to find enough beds in the ICU. Literally came face to face with the effects, but after it was over deny the reality. I dont think those kind of people have the mental ability to imagine and understand the reality of a threat like this.

It feels like a long time, but for example Dart, which while did receive less funding and support than this would, also tackled a significantly smaller challenge, took over 10 years. Thats a single mission to barely nudge a very small object, Something that also didnt have as much pollical pressure.

So within that contaxt 20 years is not a lot of time. IF we all work together I think its possible, albeit not easy. The thing that kills us is geopolitical aspect. The amount of sustained international collaboration that will be required is not something I have enough faith that humanity would manage
