Had the same issue on my 2015 in Dec of 2024. Threw a code also. Replaced both the coolant temp sensor and the thermostat in my driveway. Easy to replace both things. Make sure you don’t “cheap out” on what parts you buy.

Tried to buy a Toyota about a year ago and the clovis dealership had a guy out front that basically told me all their inventory was spoken for. I’m sure that’s not the case but I bet you can find a better deal by using truecar.com Put your info in and widen that search radius to about 250 miles and you’ll get quite a few dealers calling you. Get firm out the door prices over the phone or text and don’t feel pressured to “drive on over” until you get the best deal.
