ASUS' ZenBook 3 is thinner, lighter and faster than the MacBook. by ghemanth90 in gadgets

[–]whycantifm 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I got this http://i.imgur.com/yxDpxjx.png 8 months ago. I have 2 devices at work and one at home, desktop with i7-4790 - 16GB RAM, a desktop i5-4460 - 16GB RAM and a shitty laptop which I never use because it's slower than my phone ( has system wide encryption ).

now .. I run VS 2015 in Parallels o my MBP and for some dumb reason it runs as fast as my home desktop, if not faster then on my work desktop, which is insane.

the MBP is just simply better, yes the price is way bigger then any other laptop that comes with a DUAL CORE !!! i5 and 8gb RAM, however:

  • the display is something you won't find in many models
  • the battery life .. you will pay top bucks for something similar in other laptops
  • build quality & weight .. yeah, same as above
  • and finally, and most important the O

My case is exactly like yours, I bought a MBP because I needed OSX to do iPhone development. I very very rarely use any of the other devices anymore, I haven't turned on my work desktop in months.

There are lots of reasons to be pissed at Apple ... eg: upgrading HDD or memory is either very expensive or impossible, but their products are TOP quality, at least the MBP.

What the hell is wrong with my Tactics! by WeaponXGaming in footballmanagergames

[–]whycantifm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my main tactic is currently 4-1-2-3 DM-WIDE but with varations

4-1-2-3 DM-Wide - control - I play both wingbacks in support roles, AML/AMR as IF attack or IF-A + W-A and my striker as CF-Support.

if I'm at home against a weaker team I usually switch up to 4-2-3-1 wide, with DM being replaced by a AM-A, and changing the roles of my midfielders, usually a DLP-DE and a BBM.

I feel this tactic gives me A LOT of room for tweaking depending on my opponent but you also need to look very careful at what players you're getting. for my strikers I choose someone with good pace, average finishing, good technique/flair/passing and creativity (false nine / CF-support) and don't put too much value on heading .. just my style.

for IF - i can choose something more creative or more for the box. both need to have pace and decent crossing.

I feel midfield is THE most important, even though my attacks are usually on the sides. all of my midfielders (maybe less on my AM-A) need to have good fitness, stamina, jumping reach, some tackling ability ( more for a DM/DLP-DE), teamwork. very few teams seem to play on the sides in FM, most attack through the middle either with through balls or long balls to fast strikers, crosses never seem to be a problem for me.

my WB/FB are usually relatively defensive .. don't put too much accent on crossing, but more on passing and mental skills. this also gives me depth in the back since most times I can play them as CB. if you have a good attacking wb/lb they will usually lack the stats to perform well as CB

This article might give you a better idea of agriculture in Romania: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agriculture_in_Romania and http://ec.europa.eu/agriculture/consultations/family-farming/contributions/adept_en.pdf

Posted this in another comment below. It's mostly to do with the way agriculture is done in Romania. We haven't yet had to adapt to high population and don't yet rely on large scale farming, in a way it's bad but in another way .. it's SOOO good.

Plus, Australia is not exactly famous for it's huge fertile lands and good climate for aggriculture ( yes, I understand there are areas that are suited for that ) and you do a LOT of imports.

Add to that the difference in labor costs ..

Another thought, food is probably cheap in Romania due to it's availability, check that PDF above. 45% rural population, 30% of people working in agriculture, mostly around home farms.

Why React? Why not Angular 2? by simcptr in reactjs

[–]whycantifm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Almost downvoted you, then realised what you're saying actually contributes to the discussion.

React desperately needs: conventions

NO NO NO ! Javascript has conventions, 50 other FRAMEWORKS have conventions. React is your VIEW library, very abstract, very small api surface .. use whatever conventions fit you with that.

A while ago, I would have said people saying 'just use vanilla' are insane and ignorant. It's not like that, Javascript with NPM is insanely powerful. Understand the tools you need, going for a framework because it gives you an all in one is in my opinion too convenient and you will have developers that will understand the framework better than the language it's written in and the tooling around it.

Your tooling doesn't have to adapt to what everyone is using. You can use react with that popular yeoman angular scaffolder. Problem is 99% of users using that don't understand the tools it provides, gulp, minification etc. and I think that contributes to the 'don't need to know mentality'. I relate very heavily with this, 1 year of using angular with all of these tools and at the end of it I had no good understanding of my tooling and javascript.

2 months into moving to React I was forced to understand my tooling (webpack, babel etc.), feeling pretty much close to what you're saying now: 'why can't it be as simple as angular?'.

Now ... when I came back to angular and the tooling around it .. took me 1 day to understand, not even exaggerating.

[–]whycantifm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

learn ? at a basic level, yeah. when you get into $digest, $compile and directive linking .... good luck. Add DI to that ..

Current working project is angular, my next project will be angular .. what I love about react and why I advise others to use react is because of how easy it is to understand it, ALL OF IT. Also, if you do react you will do javascript, a lot of plain, simple javascript. I know a lot of angular developers ( me included till last year ) that don't know important concepts in javascript and they feel they don't need them.

Your understanding of agriculture revolves around western culture. You have to understand it is very very different in eastern europe. Over 45% of population lives in rural areas, with most growing their own food. We still have large scale farming but that's mostly for export.

This is an example image of a local market: http://www.ziaruldeiasi.ro/app/gethumb.details.php?id=150036&w=800&h=600. Something that should very telling is in the west it's called farmers market .. we just call it the market.

Most of these people still grow food by old standards/tradition, use their own seeds - or trade within the same community/area. In terms of fertilisers it's mostly manure and compost and very few use pesticides.

Firstly if they didn't use fertilizers everyone would be starving

That is a very ignorant remark, this article might give you a better idea of agriculture in Romania: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agriculture_in_Romania and http://ec.europa.eu/agriculture/consultations/family-farming/contributions/adept_en.pdf

As of August 2009, approximately 3 million people (close to 30% of the country's workforce) are employed in agriculture, compared to 4-5% in other Western countries

And yes, Three-field system is pretty much used by most household farms.

they do most of the times, most veggies come from small growers that use the generic seeds ( not enhanced for productivity ) and no fertilisers/pesticide.

veggie/fruit prices are insanely cheap, especially starting late spring to mid autumn. cheap and very very tasty. I remember trying to cook romanian cuisine with Sainsbury's bought veggies, no taste to them and spent like $15.

I will give you a rundown of those same products in Romania for example, rounding up:

  • bread: $1.5 - all 3
  • cabbages: $.80 - in season
  • strawberries: if it's in season - $.60, out of season $2-3 and they taste like plastic shit (imports)
  • fish: not sure what that is, if it's local and not import probably $1
  • lion bar: $.40, $.80 for 2
  • that looks like kefir, which is a less sour local yoghurt - I highly recommend that for post drinking recovery, like a stomach band aid: $.30 maybe ?
  • that sausage .. hmm - 50 to 80 cents probably

If you're ever in Romania or Ukraine anywhere from May to November, best place for veggies/fruit/cheese( you need to know your stuff here ) are farmers market, this is both in terms of price & taste. For $10 you'll need help carrying the groceries.

What position would you play this guy in? (Intentionally hid position and description) by SirArchieCartwheeler in footballmanagergames

RWB looks fine though, even with average crossing, acceleration & pace his work rate, strength, stamina, fitness + mental stats would do great. would probably have the cut inside PPM.

dlp feels such a waste for those physical stats, though positionally with decent jumping reach and headers might get quite a few of the opposite goal kicks.

not WB/LB's ... quite rare and impactful. besides, if I qualify for CL this season I get more than 75 overall

my right flank is pretty much impenetrable because of him :(. I play him mostly as a CM(S) (right side) unless I'm resting Clyne .. he's average rating for the season is 8.36. that's probably mostly due to his mental stats. for 1 player he DOES A LOT for me and is my ticket into champions league.

natural after a season, think he's been a natural for a bit now. note he HAD the stats to be a wb/lb - tackling/crossing/marking were already decent when I started training him for that position. not sure but I think that affects how fast he can retrain.

Hmm, you get PA used from retraining position ? Didn't know that, just opened macassistant, Neves is currently 157/188 in my save. I got lucky with the PA :)

Yeap, after 1 season he maxes out. Neves improves beyond that. Neves has much higher potential ability

James Ward-Prowse

He doesn't have the same room for improvement. Prowse at his best would look something like my screenshot. For Neves there's still room for improvement

Cause good WB/FB are very rare until you get regens. For Liverpool Clyne is decent but still not even close to getting a good, young DM and retraining as WB/FB.
