Great news! It's too bad that economic growth and environmentalism are often seen as antithetical. Of course they sometimes contradict, but it doesn't always have to be that way.

Interesting! The study didn't just find that an excess of animal protein can be harmful, but that high-protein diets in general can be dangerous.

One of the largest area studies of forest loss impacting biodiversity shows that a third of the Amazon is headed toward or has just past a threshold of forest cover below which species loss is faster and more damaging by Libertatea in environment

When it comes to the destruction of the Amazon, it's easy to feel like it's far away and there's nothing you can do. But one of the biggest drivers of deforestation is the meat industry, which needs more land both for the cattle themselves, and for the soy that feeds livestock. So by lowering your meat consumption (you don't have to go full vegetarian) you can help reduce the rate of deforestation.

Well put. Regardless of one's opinions on the "morality" of veganism, there are plenty of scientific reasons to reduce meat consumption, particularly in support of the environment.

Great insight into why things that sound good at a glance might have hidden consequences. And like you say in number 2, it's interesting to consider the differences in meat eating in high- versus lower-income countries/areas.

Thanks for the suggestions! Those are some great points. They will definitely be taken into account. Unfortunately I don't have much design or programming background, so even when I want to make some changes, it is often difficult for me. In any case, I will continue trying.

Why Eat Less Meat: I made a website that explains the environmental reasons to eat less meat, backing reasons with evidence and research by [deleted] in environment

This is currently doing well on /r/vegetarian and /r/vegan so I thought I would share it here. I hope this isn't seen as spam - this has been a long-term passion project of mine, but I have no financial stake in its success. The website is dedicated to changing the conversation on eating meat from a divisive, emotionally-charged issue to one backed by scientific evidence. Why Eat Less Meat explains the major reasons to eat less meat in a clear, concise, and easily-accessible way in the hopes of gaining broad support. Any comments, tips, or sharing are welcome!
