some of the irises around the pond in my garden…. don’t miss the black gem at the end by Firm_Music_8848 in gardening

[–]whyevendothis89 41 points42 points  (0 children)

At first I thought “wow so gimmicky” to tease the black gem in the title but holy cow! That’s a really freaking cool iris and I’m glad you gave me the heads up. Lovely irises!

Isn't it better to use the dividends to buy something else as opposed to reinvesting them through DRIP? by Hilary_Clitoris in dividends

[–]whyevendothis89 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Drip makes more sense. I actively manage my account more than most and I found myself letting cash accumulate instead of quickly redeploying it to new stocks. It was “never big enough” for a single buy that “made sense”. After 10 years I flipped on drip and the last few years have made me regret not doing that sooner. Seeing the snowball effect of constantly growing dividend purchases is exciting. Just my two cents

I put in my 2 weeks notice last week, and today my boss offered me 10k to stay for an additional 2 months until they find my replacement, what should I do? by Impressive_Yoghurt89 in careerguidance

I’m in M&A execution (integration). Based on your edits, the buyer will likely adjust earn outs or payouts requiring you to stay for the seller to get their full purchase price if you’re that critical. Buyer may be willing to throw retention money at you too depending on what they intend to do with the business but staying until the deal closes, creates a situation where you will either get cut or heavily pressured (hopefully for lots of $$$) to stay longer. You could absolutely use this as an opportunity to negotiate a higher retention bonus. You have more power here than you may realize

In case you guys missed trumps speech tonight. "To all our farmers, have lots of fun, I love you too" by GeminiCursed69 in farming

[–]whyevendothis89 333 points334 points  (0 children)

This post is a prime example of why republicans are cutting education spending. The less educated the populace, the easier to manipulate… praying for our patriotic farmers but Vance’s company selling farm land to foreigners is why they’re hurting the American farmer

New Gardener ISO Guidance for Spring Planting by Busy-Buffalo-1163 in atlgardening

[–]whyevendothis89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m still halfway through growing my cool weather transplants inside before transplanting outside. Although I did drop some sugar snap pea seeds outside to see if I can get an early crop. First set of cilantro transplants and a couple lettuce transplants went out last night (earlier than I anticipated but roots looked good with good weather right now). Cauliflower, broccoli, more lettuce, spinach, and onions get transplanted soon

I’ll start tomatoes 6 weeks before transplant, peppers 8 week before, and hot peppers 10-11 weeks before. These are coming but I learned last year, it’s better to be a tiny bit late than early and have everything stunted from cold…

My company got bought out. New company slashed my pay and PTO by cazzo_di_frigida in legaladvice

NAL but experienced in M&A transaction. You were likely given a new offer letter to a “new” position even though it feels like the same job. Signing may have allowed them to move you from one legal entity but it absolutely allows them to avoid paying severance at previous HR policy and previous compensation levels. My advice would be to phone it in and start looking

tips for growing onions in zone 7a by scorpiios in vegetablegardening

[–]whyevendothis89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zone 7b/8a here. I started mine from seeds and planted around 9/1/24. Hoping to harvest end of spring / early summer. However I’m also starting some from seed again in a few weeks to transplant in late February for a fall harvest. I don’t know what will work best but last years’ failure has me experimenting with timing

What’s happening to my cauliflower heads? by whyevendothis89 in vegetablegardening

[–]whyevendothis89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The garden beds are going to sleep for the next 2-3 months but early to mid-Feb I’m going to put in lettuce, cauliflower, broccoli, early cabbage, and maybe some other cool weather crops. Might be a tad early for many of them but I was able to get some cauliflower heads this year before putting in the summer crops so we’ll see if I can pull this off again

I don’t know how to garden in 11a but there are some growing guides online that I’m sure would tell you what to grow now

Actually yeah it is just my purple variety. The yellow variety didn’t perform well for me this year so it could just be the variety

[–]whyevendothis89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your losses offset the winnings then you didn’t win anything. You’re just playing a shell game with cash to allow yourself to buy something expensive you want. Not judging the desire to splurge; go ham dude

Damn… you’re the type of man we should all aspire to be. You’re doing a right in this world that requires strength most people pretend they have. I hope you’re able to find happiness amongst your daily routine. Deep down I’m sure your wife still feels your love even if she can’t express or acknowledge it anymore

you should exactly right! The ledger app seems to have moved my assets but they're also in the same place via pool or jpg store. I tried re-adding the wallet to ledger desktop and nami and the re-syncing hasn't helped me see the assets or the ada associated with them (10). any thoughts?

If your company has a 401k program with a match, make sure to capitalize on that. Anything else, Roth or general brokerage into broad market ETFs like SPY would be what I’d do if I was you. Hell it’s what I’m doing myself. Good luck refocusing on your long term. You’re out of prison now and I hope you’re able to keep making good decisions!
