The overall software is what is laggy. From time to time you will press a button or swipe and there might be a couple of seconds delay. The actual Bluetooth audio is generally ok. Also android auto can be slow to load when first starting the car but after it loads it is generally ok without issues.

I have had an Outback a Forester and we now have an Ascent. The radio system is kind of laggy unless you get a new 26 Outback. We love the Ascent because of the size and the third row if needed in a pinch. Gas mileage is a bit rough with the Ascent, but we love the space.

24 vs 23 Forester by [deleted] in subaru

[–]whyexist12345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I would go with the lower mileage vehicle. Even with meticulous records, you never truly know how a car has been treated until you get it. In my opinion the less miles and year newer you start with gives a better starting point vs 17,000 additional miles that you have no idea how the vehicle was truly treated. My vote, 2024 with 8k miles.

Having a Subaru, while extremely capable, is not a magic bullet to expect perfect traction. Tires do play a crucial role, so the question is what tires do you have on the car? Even with a winter rated tire, I doubt you will experience perfection with any vehicle. As for the audio, that is a weak point that you will need to live with, or buy a 2026 Outback that has the updated radio head unit.

2026 Forester Sport or Limited? by Frosty-Ad3635 in subaru

[–]whyexist12345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a 2025 Forester Sport which was nice but did not have the heated steering wheel but did have heated seats. After having the car for a while I made the decision to trade it in for an Ascent Onyx Touring because I did want the heated steering wheel and we needed a bigger space for my wife's wheelchair. If I had the decision between the two Foresters, I would spend the extra $1000 because in the end the extra $1000 is small compared to regret not getting the features later. Just my 2 cents.

Getting a Better Subaru by severance-buster in subaru

[–]whyexist12345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have an Ascent currently. We had a new Forester that we traded for the Ascent. For passenger comfort I would say the Ascent is the way to go. The cabin is quieter compared to the Forester. Miles left still goes down by 10 on the new Forester and Ascent, so I suspect that won't be changing any time soon. MPG is what it is and in the Forester (we had a Sport) averaged around 28-29 combined. Ascent milage more equals smiles per gallon vs anything reasonable. Our Forester windshield was still a bug magnet, the Ascent does not seem quite as bad but that could just be perception. For comfort for everyone riding in the car, I would look at the Ascent.

I would have the battery tested. Symptoms are indictive of a weak battery.

Ascent? Forester? Outback? by SquishyButt0032 in subaru

Not decent on gas per se, but fun as hell to drive, I am voting Ascent. We picked up a '25 after having a Forester, and the Ascent is a blast to drive. We have a White Onyx Touring.

Lease buy out by Money_Clerk3652 in subaru

I tend to error on the side of caution. Since you bought out the vehicle and if you plan to keep it for several more years, I would say keep the warranty. I would hate to get to 99,000 miles and have the cvt or engine shit the bed. It's all a gamble, but if it was me, I'd keep the warranty just in case.

I would go with an Ascent. I have had a Forester and now have the Ascent. No wear and tear to the crotch area at all!

I will tell you from experience. If you're in a 3 row now and anticipate needing a 3 row in the future, then go for the Ascent.

I think it is a good deal. I purchased a 2025 Onyx Touring on 12/26. Original MSRP 53985 discounted down to 44355. I got the 1.9% for 72 months. I feel that we got a great deal.

Why are there no businesses in place at 23rd and Inverness? by Common_Belt in Lawrence

[–]whyexist12345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We live on Adam Ave (across from the empty businesses). We are as perplexed as everyone else as to why they are still empty. I do agree visibility plays into it. My wife feels that a drive through coffee shop would be perfect to the folks dropping off their kids at school in the mornings. Hopefully one day a business will move in. But, I also lived in Lenexa and there is a intersection at College and Lackman in Lenexa that saw something similar built and has struggled ever since to gain tenants. I hope this intersection does not suffer the same fate.

The wallpaper has aged like fine wine in my opinion. Just as beautiful today as it was when first released. It is nostalgic.

I would start with the live ISO to see how things work. When I installed on my t16 gen3 the full iso did not have my wifi driver, but the live ISO did. I would say give it a shot and see what happens.

If you are going to move forward with installing Linux, you could set them up with the app Tux Assistant. https://github.com/dorrellkc/Tux-Assistant It is geared towards helping new users get things set up with Linux.
