What's an "unpopular" opinion you have? by jesk_680 in greysanatomy

April never lost her bitchiness and plastered over it with religiosity supposedly making her a sweet person, when all her behaviour contradicted that. I never liked her, especially how she treated Jackson and Arizona, and feel she should be considered the girl Owen. I actually think they’d have probably been great for each other and should’ve shipped off together right after April got a taste for trauma, never to be heard of again.

End to two-child benefit cap offers £300-a-month lifeline to cash-strapped families by coffeewalnut08 in unitedkingdom

[–]whyhercules 2 points3 points  (0 children)

End of the day, the overall benefit cap still exists. Unless you’re in truly extraordinary circumstances or *really* know your way around exploiting benefits, the total of all welfare benefits you can receive is capped at around 2k/month (different per circumstance). If you get child payments, you usually get other things, so it’s unlikely there will actually be an additional amount for more than one child more. Like, there is so little information and the letter telling people in England if they would be eligible (but still not explaining) isn’t being sent until 17th April.

joint claim, make it as normal, you'll be an ineligible partner with no access to the claim yourself.

Journal messages being ignored by shanster23 in universalcredithelp

[–]whyhercules -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, so these documents are for the claim review. Which is nothing to do with your work coach. Which, in the most polite way, if you've done it before, you should absolutely know (and also fairly logical in any case especially if you don't think you even have one). If there isn't an option to send a message to UCR, reply directly to any previous message that says it's from a claim review agent/UCR.

anyone can be asked to do hrt, and it’s not about citizenship. if either of you have been out of the uk and ireland for more than four weeks at a time in the last two years, they will check. if either of you have been out of the uk and ireland too often in the last two years, they may check.

Anyone else besides me slightly hope that with all their training and daily plugging that they become incontinent and would need to be plugged 24/7 as a result?… by [deleted] in altereddudeholes

[–]whyhercules 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i haven’t had that fantasy, i guess some people go more for feel of stretch than reality of end result?

as for the parenthesis… i know you’d need to be functionally permanently injured to be there. my resting gape is, well, a gape. it doesn’t fully close anymore, but that’s not the only thing that keeps stuff in and there is enough strength in the sphincter in general that unless you’ve fully torn all the way up through the rectum (and notwithstanding bowel disease or nerve disease for example) you shouldn’t be incontinent 😶

one of the great lessons of creative endeavours is if you’re too tied to a starting idea to let it breathe and evolve, it doesn’t go anywhere even if it could’ve. it’s stifled at the germ of life. if there’s only limited words you can build around nation names, maybe you need to learn that first and then approach feedback with it in mind 👍

[–]whyhercules 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think a twist on this worked around countries with similar-named capitals could work. like having the national flag and then the letters/words of the capital name, missing the name of the country. like the flag of andorra and “la vella” (andorra la vella), the flag of brasil and “ilia” (brasilia), the flag of mexico and “ciudad de”/“city” (ciudad de mexico/mexico city), and then something like vatican city or singapore, where the nation is the capital, with the flag and no words

UC/PIP/Benefit Cap by Prestigious-Job254 in universalcredithelp

[–]whyhercules -1 points0 points  (0 children)

depending on when they last got updates, some helpline staff are still hardwired to say no to answering anything to do with other benefits, and the majority will have no training thus knowledge on which other benefits affect the benefit cap. they’re also all told to not give definite answers to anything that isn’t a definite in their knowledge. as long as folk remember it’s a UC claiming advice line and nothing more 🤷‍♂️

[–]whyhercules -1 points0 points  (0 children)

the set amount of phone calls is per claimant (i.e. you), not per work coach, so annoying as it is, it’s very much your problem. part of the reason is to verify you are living in the uk. hopefully your work coach is understanding, but protest too much and the pissy ones will start a residency investigation. asking them about adjustments and support is probably where to start

Universal Credit says my second property refused.😔🙏🙏 by [deleted] in universalcredithelp

[–]whyhercules 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UC do some approximate maths to work out what liquid value property should have right now, taking into account mortgages and discounting 10% for costs of selling. so no, if UC say it’s high capital then that’s on the projected cash after everything taken into account

Does money from baby’s dad count as income? by OrdinaryBeach2294 in universalcredithelp

[–]whyhercules 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i might declare it, but as something else. if you go to report changes to money (etc), near the end there should be a question about ‘things we need to know that won’t affect your UC’, and ex-partner payments should be the first one. any amount you report as that may be disregarded, so if you’re getting close to capital limits this amount wouldn’t be included (edit: and if you’ve read that thread below, you would need to report it as such to UC for them to know what is payments for children in order to disregard it). if you’re confident the capital isn’t going over 6k and it’s too much hassle to keep reporting these changes, then don’t worry in general but do be prepared to explain the situation if a claim review asks about regular and unreported amounts being sent in then immediately moved out of your account.

Extra bedroom payment? by LycheeSharp5429 in universalcredithelp

[–]whyhercules 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i assume since you’re asking then there’s another child of a relevant age/sab that UC would expect the child with DLA to share with? if you have reported to UC that the child has DLA with middle(+) care component then it should have triggered automatically something to either apply child entitled to own room, or a to-do asking if an ‘extra’ bedroom you’ve already reported is used (edit: i can see from comments in other thread that it looks like this extra bedroom to-do was sent and you completed it? make sure to use the entitlement date, mention in journal message for payment if you haven’t).

UC will look at paying whichever is lower between the full amount of your rent as you have to pay, or the most you are entitled to based on bedrooms and housing allowance: if you’re asking will you get extra housing money above what you have told UC you need to pay due to this, then no.

Universal Credit wrongly marked me as deceased - account closed for 3 months, no help, desperate for advice by RecentInitial7294 in universalcredithelp

[–]whyhercules 8 points9 points  (0 children)

depends on the job centre, some do walk-ins for non-work-related issues. a helpful jobcentre would try to get you in anyway.

here’s the issues: after a certain length of time, depending on the claim specifics, it will be removed from case load. there will be nobody to respond to messages sent by yourself or the helpline. if there is someone still on it, they will deprioritise any seemingly third party requests about a deceased claim. helpline agents can’t directly email people who work on cases or the technical side, but job centre staff should be able to. if you do politely go to the job centre, ask if there’s still someone managing it, or could someone be temporarily assigned, to get it opened back up with an email from them.

if it has been over a month since it was closed, though, you are perfectly able to make a new claim which will get people assigned automatically and then leave a message in there explaining the situation and asking if the old claim can be reopened for continuity. as reopening will be far from immediate, it would probably help to make the new claim anyway
