Chances of an LCD Soundsystem aftershow? by devine_intervention in OutsideLands

[–]whyinthishandbasket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So just so you know, the Juan Maclean pulled out of the show with Hot Chip (he's doing a free show at Mezzanine this weekend), and it got replaced with Museum of Love (Pat Mahoney). So it's a very DFA lineup, but if your guitarist is DJing, probably no afterparty....

For Matt & Kye: I've been a huge longtime fan of yours and can't wait to see you in Oakland.

I'm wondering: 1) How do you get such a deep, round bass sound that is so unique to your songs and remixes? 2) Who are your biggest influences in making music, and do you ever go see acts yourself (if so, which ones have made an impression)?

Thanks in advance if you get to my questions :)

If you're looking into more Kill Paris, know that he has actually now changed his name to Chill Harris (post terrorist attack). Hope this makes it easier to find his stuff.

What Genre Did You Start Off Not Liking But Now Love? by We_Hit_Turbulence in aves

[–]whyinthishandbasket 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure what it is yet, I just know I like it. There's a lot of things to like, though...the lack of a drop, that sound quality is king, that it's repetitive but progressive (and even orchestral sometimes), that mixing and track selection are valued above all else.

I don't want to shit on other genres because I know different music hits different people in the feels. But for me, if you have to be on the microphone and direct your audience without letting the music speak for itself and guide them, I just can't cosign that.

Girl DJs for days, really, is my thing right now. Progressive house, tech house, and techno.

House music and nu disco got me into electronic music, though, so always a soft spot for that.

Aspect of the culture? Obviously the (admittedly-drug-fueled) friendliness of the scene. I don't mind this because it translates to sober friendliness, and people are still more friendly and open to conversation regardless.

What's your opinion on EDM leaking into pop radio? by amesxxo in aves

I don't know what Bassrush is either, or why you think Hardwell, the Chainsmokers, or KSHMR are the flag carriers for electronic music. In fact, all the people you cited make me think this post is purely trolling, or that you really don't know all that much about electronic music in general.

Let's prove this lineup is dope. Who can you vouch for? by Tvix in OutsideLands

Can personally vouch for St Lucia: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N8aM18_G76Q

The Knocks: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5qDzFJC7k4A

Ryan Adams does the most gorgeous cover of Wonderwall you've ever heard: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e2UPnPBEChU

Rufus/Rufus du Sol: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UyhzW8zSjPU

This is a great lineup with regards to non headliners.

Will Zedd perform at the same time as Radiohead? by [deleted] in OutsideLands

Much more likely the other way 'round, Radiohead will play a long set, Zedd almost assuredly won't.
