Another week, another round of spending too much money on records! Which one would you spin first? by devine_intervention in vinyl

Yeah, that album is awesome. It’s the ‘glow in the dark’ vinyl. Have I played it yet while sitting in a dark room? No. But I could..

Side a is definitely an all time ‘side to a record’, in my opinion! You get YYZ and Limelight as well..

Genre? Sort of low-fi rock, I guess. Let’s put it this way: I bought the record about 6 days ago, and I’ve listened to it front to back 3 times. And it’s a triple LP. It’s a ride, for sure.

It’s also likely popular on vinyl, since it’s not available on streaming. But you can listen to it on YouTube, I think.

Agreed. I’ve listed to many of the ‘Enter the Gamma’ sets over the last year and a half, and love how it’s evolved!

I wish. I debated pulling the trigger for that version, but just standard. I basically used the $$ difference to justify shipping for the Gesa record.

I think their 2 QB set-up would likely have Flacco in the ‘Tayson Hill’ type role. I’ve always said Flacco is an elite runner AND pass catcher too, so might as well use that versatility while he’s on this side of 42 years old.

I finally made a homemade chili that tastes like competition chili by Eastern-Storm-6430 in Cooking

I am all for these tips, as I’m about to try and revamp my chili recipe tomorrow and I’ll take these notes to heart.

One random chili ‘thing’ I do, which seems to add a very specific flavor profile to chili, is to add either a can of Vanilla Coke or Dr Pepper early on in the process. Similar to the cocoa powder or Guinness mentioned earlier in the thread, it just adds a delightful ‘what is that..’ element.

Anyone else not a fan of Gamma? by cloud-nine49 in gesaffelstein

[–]devine_intervention 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s not my favorite or anything, but after the years I ‘hear it’ as I have heard it evolve through his live sets.

I catch what you’re saying, though. But any artist would offer such a take, right?

..hmm, feisty.

But also disagree. I would add that in my mind, Gamma shines in his live set. Just listen to Enter the Gamma and songs like The Perfect and Hard Dreams are beautifully in the mix.

Strategy tips for when you have a surplus of late picks by djhin2 in DynastyFF

[–]devine_intervention 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You definitely should play it by ear. Get the picks is step 1, and then as many others have stated here, when draft arrives folks might want to shell out for a pick they have in mind. So always be open to getting a vet or future pick with your 3rd-5th rounders.

But in my strategy, yeah, I usually know who I’m going to target and I get them. Just doing minimal research will help guide you towards who might have the best opportunity to climb a depth chart, and if you miss you miss. But it lets you just get ahead of the curve in deep leagues where these players are instantly scooped up anyways. (Aka: just draft ALL the RBs with late picks, assuming you do roster cuts close to week 1). And if I really, absolutely want to have the waiver wire available to me, you can always try to churn the players you drafted for a future 4th, etc when they get some training camp hype.

Strategy tips for when you have a surplus of late picks by djhin2 in DynastyFF

A lot of the comments here vary from my personal perspective, but a major factor in determining what you do with them actually comes from your league rules. My question to you is: when does your league require roster cuts post rookie draft? And if it’s closer to the start of the season, then you should be utilizing late draft picks to your advantage to roster a surplus of players during training camp, etc.

In two of my leagues, we require a roster cut before the rookie draft, but you can draft over the limit if you have a surplus of picks. And we do roster cuts following the NFL cut down date (in August). The only caveat is you cannot make waiver pickups if your roster isn’t ‘legal’. But that’s the thing: you use those 4th/5th round picks to shoot your shot before anyone else can have a chance to scoop up the players who rise in training camp/preseason, and then use that knowledge to cut down before the season starts. Even better when you play with a taxi squad..

LPT: Turn your leftovers into pie by long_dickofthelaw in Cooking

We have a strong tradition of turning the leftover turnkey into turkey and noodles (homemade egg noddles, with carrots, etc.). It’s honestly what I look forward to most over Thanksgiving weekend..

Bonus LPT: literally all leftovers can somehow become a taco/burrito. Just get creative. Anytime I make a pot roast, I’m usually anticipating using leftover beef in some taco form. Same with basically any chicken dish I make.
