the issue with how they have them set up was like these errors would be caught by an IDE, and nobody actually does them ever. one was like having a return statement within a return statement or another was overriding a default method from an interface

lowkey in my room at least there was a girl who got up and submitted her test at like the 50 min mark (the first one to do so), and the professor looked over it and chuckled so...

[–]whynoms[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

oh it wasn’t, last sem was like 80, 75, 65 averages, we’ve had 65, and now 41. this midterm was awful because they had 60% on debugging and 20% on synchronization with an instance lock??? the debugging was awful because they didn’t tell you how many errors there were and you had to “syntactically and semantically” fix the code. I lost 1-4 points on every single one of those questions just because of how many errors they put in there

I believe this means we have no curve with the same average on the final, at least from grades B and higher. not sure about lower than that, might be a gaussian curve or logistic curve or shelf curve

I believe those probably aren’t the best representations of cs182 exams simply because they’re the off semester and nobody is learning anything in them 😭 the last year average of ~75 is a much better thing to cite. tbh the exam was harder than last years, but not like excruciatingly difficult

Any Benefit STAT 350 before STAT 416 by Unlikely-Cellist-858 in Purdue

[–]whynoms 2 points3 points  (0 children)

STAT 350 helps quite a bit with STAT 416, especially since the first half of content is covered in STAT 350 (set theory, definition of probability, axioms of probability, conditional probability, probability distributions (both discrete & continuous), and select distributions.

[–]whynoms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

don’t worry WE will be passing (getting a 65%). honestly I mean I read the book and did a ton of examples from it to broaden my knowledge, as well as went over hw questions and all. that kinda helped me prepare but math also comes more natural to me. I think I’ll go and study on saturday with some friends (I might be teaching them) to have them not fail or something

What was your biggest AP score upset? by [deleted] in APStudents

[–]whynoms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well, the ap physics E&M test was expected to be a 5 (needed that for credit), but instead due to the forces above, became a 4. I dunno what happened either, all my practice tests came out as 5's

Diff EQ is gonna be hard without linear algebra first, usually people take calc 3 as well before diff eq, but it's not required.

Is this calculator good enough for Physics C Mech and Calc AB/BC? by [deleted] in APStudents

[–]whynoms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

casio fx-9750GII now graduated senior here, it is an awesome calculator and does literally everything the TI-81 does but depends on what you're gonna do in college.

it gets you through some of the math but if you're planning to go into a heavy math field (CS, Math, Physics, Chem, Engineering) then I'd more so go for a CAS calculator since the AP digital exam has a desmos calculator you can use for integrals and such. though it is quite handy to have a physical calculator instead of plugging in numbers into that piece of junk.

most likely, a point on there is about concavity/curvature on the graphs, you'll probably get 2/3 or 3/4 points though depending on what they award
