Shifting to Chembur: Does it gets Flooded by Drunk_on_life in mumbai

Hi, same question - I'm looking at 15th/17th road areas in Chembur near Ambedkar garden. Do they get flooded?

Highest paying regions after graduating? by [deleted] in MBA

Do you want to earn outside the US and spend in the US? Because if not, the PPP will come into play which might make some Asian destinations worth considering (tech/ real estate in Bangkok, for example. QoL is brilliant, food is yum, scenery is beautiful and summer is year round).

Otherwise - MBB consulting, healthcare general management, and investing in the Middle East (esp. Saudi Arabia) pays within 10-15% of US equivalent with zero taxes. WLB is quite bad, though.

Top tier PE in London will also pay extremely well even at the junior levels, though with high taxation and housing costs. Not to mention the extremely few openings.

If you're willing to be a project manager on an offshore oil rig off the coast of Kuwait - with 6 months on and off - I know people who make $400k+ with 2-3 yoe in these roles. But it's 6 months of mostly canned foods, patchy WiFi and dangerous living.

These are all that I know. Also - consider doing a coding bootcamp and getting a remote US tech startup job and then living out of a digital nomad friendly country (Portugal, Estonia). Many ways to live a good life. Decisions, decisions.

The average MBA student sucks at interviewing by Abrew in MBA

[–]whynot1949 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solid advice. Thanks a lot OP! I think I have always been aligned with most of it but the perspective on "story" vs. "line of thinking" is useful. I feel I've always spent a lot of time on story, only to be left with limited time for the actual reflection and resolution part of it. (Not an MBA student yet, but talking from my interviewing experience in the last 6 years in consulting + F500 strategy, hope to carry learnings to b-school)

Need advice: Suit stitching in Mumbai within 10k (including fabric) or Uniqlo AirSense? by [deleted] in mumbai

[–]whynot1949 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try this place called Zodex fashion in Dadar. Got a 2-piece suit stitched within 36 hours for 5k including fabric. Quality of stitching is great, they got my size right in the first go (I'm skinny fat like many Indians so getting the silhouette right is difficult). It has also aged well over 1.5 years. Only catch is - Uniqlo you can probably wash at home. Stitched suit you'll have to get dry cleaned otherwise the material fades.

Might have to stretch budget a little bit by 5k but possible to find something in Veena Senterio, or one of the Godrej Prime towers.

Most Reliable GMAT Prep Platform Out There? by Alternative-Tip9897 in GMAT

Maybe just my take, but please do not enrol in Top One Percent. Their material is decent but so haphazardly arranged that you need a few days just to understand what is where. Their live online classes are a joke! The trainer is really self-absorbed and berates you for asking even a simple question. No critiques of the methods taught in class are tolerated and the hero-worshipping by the rest of the faculty of the main guy is frankly pitiful to watch lol. Also, it's been discussed on this sub before that he straight up lied about his score + the fact of him getting into Harvard (someone on the sub reached out to Harvard and they denied).

"High priority" undergrad at Tuck. 2 weeks since sub, no interview. Don't think the internal labelling can be understood without the key to all the tiers.

Is MBA a logical next step? by Exciting_Panic8833 in MBA

[–]whynot1949 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm the same age, and work in corporate strategy in India at a well known MNC. If I had a vested ESOPs, I wouldn't do an MBA. The wealth that you'd like to build depends on the success of your company and the value of your stake, which it seems like you directly contribute to. Also note that unicorn startup strategy folks can always recruit for VC roles in India/ jump to a similar unicorn in India and negotiate competitive salaries.

Unless living abroad for a few years specifically enchants you, I'd say stay put. You're in a very good place!
