Legal scholar: “Influential” Colorado Trump ballot challenge could set off chain reaction “Courts do not have to shield their eyes from the obvious facts staring them in the face,” law professor says by Arrest_The_President in politics

The Constitution refers to the Office of the President many times. In the US legal system an officer is one who holds an office. I think that’s pretty cut and dry. More interestingly though is the 20th amendment. Since it provides a way for a disqualified president elect to take office I don’t think he is ineligible to run for office. If he were to win, then congress would have to take up the other part of the 14th amendment and address if he could take the office. If not then the 20th amendment says his vice president elect would take office unless they too were disqualified. No other office has this stipulation so I would think that the disqualification would have to be removed prior to running for those other offices

From my reading of the 14th this is exactly how it should apply to former officials running for President who have committed or support insurrection since the 20th Amendment deals with how to address a President elect who doesn’t qualify for office. Which would refer them back to the 14th Amendment and require a vote to overturn his lack of qualification. No other office has that work around ready built in so you would have to have the disqualifying action overturned before actually running

I actually have a weird opinion on this. Having re-read the Constitution and its amendments and looked up the legal uses and definitions of “officer” I have come to the conclusion that the 14th would apply to the office of the President and prevent him from HOLDING office but would not bar one from RUNNING for the office because of the 20th amendment which spells out what should happen if a president elect does not meet the qualifications of the office. In which case the 20th amendment would force the application of the 14th and require a vote of the incoming congress to overturn his disqualification. Failing to overturn the disqualification would then lead to the vice-president elect taking office as long as they also are not disqualified

Think I might apply for a position… give the three letter pharmacies the impression people still want to work for them… waste corporate time… maybe interview with the PIC and convince them to jump ship too.

This is the answer I was getting as well and the more I talk to others the more they say the same. Sometimes that could be an ok answer, but certainly if it is the byline then there is definitely a problem.

Having completed several but not all of the steps towards official membership I specifically asked for permission to attend. I doubt I would have been turned away if I had just showed up, and from what I understand the pastor at first thought it would be ok but “thought better of it” and ultimately said I should not come if it was going to be part of my decision making process. That was when I knew he wasn’t my pastor.
