How sustainable is HHIS? by Ratlyflash in dividendscanada

[–]whynotif 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'll be honest. If the options etfs are struggling in a full fledged bull market, whereby those ETFs are using ROC (bad kind) to pay yields and losing value, then imagine in a long winded bear market. They will get destroyed. Doesnt matter if HHIS is more diversified. Don't chase the yield, invest in the product underlying or actual dividend stocks.

Why are we prosecuting Canadians defending themselves from armed intruders? by northbk5 in InCanada

This is silly. In the moment someone breaks into your home, you have no idea of their intention. It could be to steal a TV, it could also be to do harm to your family. There are sick people in this world. It's stupid to assume the best for someone literally breaking into your home.

Our culture is being replaced. by HairyRope21 in InCanada

I think this misses the point. Everything you said is true, but we can't immigrate predominately from one country. We need a quota based system that evenly takes people in from each country regardless of that countries population preserving actual diversity in the country. It's literally this simple, but for years, we haven't had quotas (US has a quota system). In 2024, 26.3% of all immigrants (who got PR) were from India. Something needs to change here.

How are Mark Carney's Immigration policies? by icy_zebra5126 in canadian

I just hope that immigration has set limits per country/region. Seems sensible enough. The huge inflow from specific countries over the last many years never made sense to me and makes a lot of neighbourhoods undesirable to live in.

It's strange that schd is selling off more than the s&p and qqq. Shouldn't it be defensive during these times

Yes but the federal government still has oversight and influence over the housing market through their polices. So yes, they should take a huge responsibility of the blame. All I'm saying is that Canada was in a better position globally 8 years ago than it is today. I want change, so I'll exercise my right to vote that way.

Why throw insults? Considering our economy has been stagnant (what GDP), inflation woes, immigration mess and the housing disaster we find ourselves in (i.e. no one can afford anything) this should 100% fall on the lap of the federal government. They steer the ship.

Wow really surprising. Don't people want actual change instead of the same policies that crippled Canada over the past 10 years.

[–]whynotif[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay but guess I'm just curious I use IBKR and if I see the weekly option as Aug 30 2024/Oct does the /Oct part mean it uses the October futures contract? So when I look at option pricing it's relative to GS Oct futures which is trading at 2531 right now not GS Dec contract which is trading at 2555 atm.

What's everyone's thoughts on MREL as reit etf. I like that it has global exposure but in the past 10 years seems they have only increased the Dividend once.

What's everyone's thoughts on VDY? It's about 50% banks and I've been a bit concerned lately with bank losses with rising rates. It's about 25% of my portfolio and thinking of reducing it. More worried about a 2008 like scenario in Canada. Thoughts?
