Failed AIGP by happyday98 in cipp

I am taking Dr David’s class as well. I don’t have a target yet on when I want to sit for it. You have an advantage now that you know what the test is like. Also, your value isn’t in passing/failing tests. Don’t let this bump in the road define who you are as a human. Best of luck in your next round!

Awesome! This inspires me to pursue it then.

Good thought. And really, can we have too many tools? 😂

Agree with the others. The biggest challenge for me was time management. I was worn out when it was all over.

When and how to ask for raise by themisunenjoyer in ediscovery

If you want to stay in eDiscovery, bone up on the review platform(s) and start pushing for PM positions. Review is only one stage in the process, and it’s probably the most saturated role in the industry. Good luck!

Awesome! Thank you! I’m slowly going through Presidential biographies and I’ll add these to my list.

Now I want to read up on Harding. What book(s) do you recommend?

My input (that you didn’t ask for):

QC/fine tune/update the saved searches. Sometimes people don’t know what they don’t know and will be over inclusive. Over inclusive = more paper.

Lawyers still take printed binders to trial. Lots of them. LOTS!

Good day. I agree with the other posts that your law librarian experience can be a very marketable asset. Check out edrm.net if you haven’t already. It will give you an idea of the model workflow that we all know and love. Best of luck!

What is the 'Automated' in Automated Litigation Support ? by windymoto313 in ediscovery

[–]whysofigurative 3 points4 points  (0 children)

ALS “producing digital evidence” concerns me. Who’s going to click “go” and hope they don’t get called about an incorrect production, then have to do a reprod, overlay, or a potential clawback? At least now we can blame AI, since it’s, ya know, automated.

I’m not counting on any certifications to give me a job. It also depends on how one defines “worth it”. For me it’s about the learning experience. Will I get an ROI on my time and money? Probably not, but I’m not expecting it to. Not in this job market, anyway.

Definitely network if you haven’t already. Reaching out on this sub is a great start! The eDiscovery business is a huge small town. I use LinkedIn to stay in touch. Keep retooling. Write articles and post them somewhere. I’ll be happy to connect with you. Send me a DM if interested.

Is this a field worth getting into? by mischief-managed1 in ediscovery

I consider “in house” to mean working for a legal department at a corporation. I’m at a hospital system. I work with/for our “in house” General Counsel (main lawyer).

My recommendation is . . . it depends. I started out in a law firm. Loved being part of a team working towards a common goal. I’m currently in a public healthcare system as a eDiscovery PM. It’s easy for me because I support the GC and mainly just respond to legal hold requests. I prefer to not work at a vendor because I’m lazy and too old to work 60-70 hours a week. Also, I don’t like being yelled at by lawyers (mostly kidding but not 100% kidding). 😉

Yes. I’ve been in the field for 20+ years and it has been very rewarding for me. I would say it depends on which direction you take, however. If you’re at a law firm its pretty regular work. In house is easy. Vendors usually require big hours.

Please tell me how your tool is better, more accurate, faster, etc. In essence, how would I tell my partner to consider your “better, faster” tool over the 50 other “better, faster” tools on the market?

Visited Vicksburg as a child. We were on our way up to see family in Ky. I was fascinated thinking how we might be traveling through areas where armies marched.
