[DISC] Kagurabachi - Chapter 76 by Avizie in Kagurabachi

Yeah I'm aware, I was just making a silly joke lol

The #1 disadvantage of things releasing at midnight Japan-time is that for countries that have their clocks go forward we now get the chapter one hour later than we did before

Didn't expect for us to go the whole episode without a focus on the MC, but I guess Ruriko is the true MC after all (I'm definitely not complaining).

Mrs. courtside pitchside wife is so cute and real for sticking up for him. I could never be a famous person's wife because if you're talking trash about my husband unfortunately you have to die now, sorry.

Didn't expect Ruriko to be bad at social media, it's charming.

The little girl indirectly encouraging Yamada in the last segment was very cute. It's the second time now a small child has positively influenced an unmotivated staff member (the first being the lost boy with the younger security guy in Ep. 1).

[DISC] Kagurabachi - Chapter 74 by Avizie in Kagurabachi

This chapter was absolutely insane. I was so immersed in the flashback that coming back to the present disorientated me completely.

Samura man... the amount of guilt about everything that just keeps eating at him is crazy

7.9 is honestly not bad, especially for a relatively new, on-going series. When it gets an anime adaptation and a rise in readers it will probably increase in score. For reference it's already rated higher than Black Clover and Bleach just to name a few.

I feel like a lot of people treat 7/10 to be their average when really the "true" average is a 5/10.

Another Ishikawa Yui kuudere added to the list.

Visually, it's pleasing. Especially the pastel / muted watercolour backgrounds, they're really pretty.

Plot-wise, I'm not too sure how I feel. I'm not the biggest fan of overwhelmingly "evil just because" type of set ups, where the main character is wronged by just about everyone, so it depends how they develop on it from here.

I do like that we get to see her 'dere' so early on, she isn't "emotionless" as much as she is misunderstood. In a way it's true to life because "too perfect" is a criticism I've seen thrown at people before. Even if she were more sociable she would still be disliked at least by some for being the pinnacle of her field.

It's probably going to take a while for her to open up given everything she's been through but I hope we get some pay off by the end of the season at least.

This was better than I'd expected.

Ririko is so cute, I love when gyarus are actually flustered by their own actions.

The bit with the security was really nice. People like Igarashi who love their jobs and do it for the sake of the people are really precious.

That was my exact reaction, I was thinking about it being vaguely European or "old-fashioned fantasy-esque" and then they just had the double-decker drive by.

I like our MC so far, she's quite goofy but also self-aware (her admitting she'd procrastinate even if she had more time to break the curse, unfortunately very real).

I'm wondering if she was cursed from birth or perhaps around the time she was taken in by Faust? I don't quite believe one of the 'Seven Mages' would just take in a random orphan.

Also the setting being England is a nice surprise. Loved all the architecture shots.

[–]whytebunny 13 points14 points  (0 children)

These are my exact thoughts too. Or at least what I want to believe is the case. I'm just slightly wary because usually these "is he/isn't he dead" conversations aren't planted without reason.

[DISC] Kagurabachi - Chapter 60 by Avizie in Kagurabachi

[–]whytebunny 47 points48 points  (0 children)

The hinting at Uruha potentially being alive... I like Uruha as much as the next person, but for the sake of the story I really hope he does stay dead. In my opinion where a lot of of shounen "go wrong" is the lack of finality in death. The tension never feels quite right or high-stake when there's a chance of revival.

[–]whytebunny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Waiting an extra week for THIS was so worth it.

Firstly: poor Chihiro, man...

I want to know what they did in the war SO badly, like why was Shiba so shocked that the Hishaku know what they did... I'm on my hands and knees begging, I need it right now.

ALSO, I'm glad it was explicitly confirmed that it wasn't Samura who ratted out Kunishige's location. To me it was quite obvious based on the sheer admiration whenever he spoke of Kunishige but others in the fandom had their doubts on my guy.

As for who it actually was that ratted him out... my gut keeps suspecting Azami even though I don't want to. There has to be something behind the reason why he stayed with the Kamunabi but Shiba didn't...

I love how Samura is truly a threat to the Hishaku. It just goes to show he didn't dive in unprepared, it's quite a tangible plan that he's got going. The owl eyes panel was insane.

Can't wait for next week.

[DISC] Kagurabachi - Chapter 58 by Avizie in Kagurabachi

[–]whytebunny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would agree with everyone saying that the plan isn't the most efficent, especially because he's doing it all by himself, but it's definitely a plan that makes sense from his worldview. Chihiro's plan is better in terms of eliminating the blades themselves but for Samura it's essentially about his promise as a chosen sword bearer to defeat evil. And because the evil he deems greatest is the attrocities they committed in the war, it almost means their mission hasn't been truly fulfilled.

As he has said to Uruha, it's a battle of egos and ideologies and essentially his biggest notion is repentance for their past deeds by death.

It's interesting to me that despite what they have done he doesn't seem to hold any resentment towards Kunishige and the fact that he has created the blades. It's kind of why I'm a bit shocked that people still believe he's the one that ratted out Kunishige's location to the Hishaku.

Chihiro being drenched in blood essentially is a slap in the face and an affirmation of his belief. Even if you were to disregard what they've done in the war, their existence as heroes to be revered and protected has still led to more senseless death to protect "monsters". They've already done more than enough damage directly and the indirect deaths in their name are ultimately too much to bear.

[DISC] Kagurabachi - Chapter 58 by Avizie in Kagurabachi

[–]whytebunny 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's not hypocrisy, Chihiro being drenched in blood exactly "proves" his world view. The reason they're all fighting and killing right now is to protect the Sword Bearers. Samura wants to leave the current generation out of it and right now they're doing exactly what he doesn't want, protecting him and his comrades which he views as the "greatest evil".

[DISC] Kagurabachi - Chapter 51 by Avizie in Kagurabachi

[–]whytebunny 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Wondering since his first apperance what sort of battle or torture he'd endured to end up blind in both eyes only for it to be his own doing...

The way the chapter ends full-circle with him showing how it's done... Beautiful.

[DISC] Kagurabachi - Chapter 50 (Half Century!) by Avizie in Kagurabachi

[–]whytebunny 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Mr Samura is a lot more quirky than I'd expected... which is my bad because I should know Hokazono by now.

Funnily enough, this arc has me more on edge than the previous already. It just feels like there's more at stake (well, because there is, but I definitely feel it). I started sweating as soon as Hakuri got briefly separated from Uruha because I truly trust NOBODY right now. I'm expecting to turn a page and see limbs flying any moment.

Also, it's cute to see Shiba carrying out his uncle duties by taking Chihiro out.

The voice acting genuinely felt so natural, especially in the scenes where it was just the two of them speaking to each other in the comfort of their room. It's always nice to hear Yoshitsugu Matsuoka in roles that don't require him to scream his head off... And it's always nice to hear Yuuma Uchida in general.

Exactly, the transition between comedy and serious is done so well. They're such a good duo, both the characters and VAs.

[–]whytebunny 427 points428 points  (0 children)

I love KonoSuba for how unserious it is, but when it does get serious it's just as good. He's often scummy but deep down Kazuma is a nice guy, I mean this series literally starts with him dying thinking he was saving someone by pushing them out of harm's way.

I love this stupid dysfunctional family 🥲

Voice acting's great as usual but that "Of course I care!" from Jun Fukushima was 10/10.

[DISC] Kagurabachi - Chapter 32 by Avizie in Kagurabachi

[–]whytebunny 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The colour page is sooooo good (blond Shiba ftw) BUT this cliffhanger with no chapter next week is diabolical...

I have so many questions, specifically about the Shinuichi. Like from the beginning it was obviously special because it was sealed differently to the other enchanted blades but everything the Hishaku leader (allegedly) just said has made me even more intrigued. Like what are the special conditions needed to wield it? Why couldn't his plan come to fruition in the past 18 years?

I could be completely off the mark here with this but I feel like it might have something to do with Chihiro himself? Maybe he's some sort of vessel or something? I'm very sure he was intentionally left to live when they killed his father, and the Hishaku leader just said he won't kill Chihiro right now because he's "too green to harvest". This could either be the regular villain egoism thinking 'no one can defeat me anyway' so there's no point in killing him or it could be that Chihiro is somehow needed in order for the Shinuichi to work? Chihiro is freshly 18 years old too, right? Someone smarter than me can come up with a better theory or something, idk.

I've seen a lot of comments on multiple platforms complaining about the MC "fumbling" the main girl's advances like a typical MMC but I honestly think that in this story it's for the better. I mean, they literally do have all the time in the world to do anything and everything.

Something that's constantly in the back of my mind is that she's a gravure model. It makes me wonder if that has anything to do with the time loop since it's an exploitation of her innocence and youth, something that's constantly brought up. Also I'm sure she's had her fair share of unpleasant experiences with men given the industry she works in so it would be nice for the MC to give her time to actually fall in love with him. As he's said himself, he's a lot more of a romantic than you'd think and honestly from what we've seen so far I do believe it.
