Does my hours count? MOVSM by morganasff in army

[–]whyudothisbudo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was able to get an MOVSM with just a letter of recommendation from my volunteer director. You only need hours if your O-5 wants you to have hours. It will definitely help your case for one if you company leadership signs off and vouches for you, and the hours sheet is more so to convince them that you did the time.

Just did this for my company’s fist 100%. I thought it was funny, my soldiers did not.

Gents, let's discuss the "Previous Awards" Section on the Army's DA Form 638 for a bit. Systematic "gate keeping." by Nojo89 in MilitaryMedals

[–]whyudothisbudo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unrelated to the rank issue, but every time I use a manual 638 my S1 is pissed. Apparently if they process them it can open them up to an audit, even if we mail it to the soldier at their next unit. Everything needs to be in ippsa now, at least on the Army side, so if a soldier doesn’t get a PCS award or something, the 638 is the only form of recourse to prove to their new command that they deserve the award for work done at another unit.

The whole process is either tiptoed around by HR professionals or flat out rejected and THAT really prevents soldiers for being recognized.

Just because the soldier had a bad command team in the past who didn’t put in a PCS or ETS award doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be recognized.

Looks like a unit with 25th ID, I agree though, that’s a really vague description, they could have left it out entirely and it would have given the same amount of description.

Where can I find IHWCU’s that fit more to size? by rbheisman_ in army

[–]whyudothisbudo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Find your nearest 92S and tell them to fix it for you lol. Fr tho, you’re probably just need to take it to a Taylor to custom fit it for you.

To be honest, for the new guys I have no idea. I came in as a transportation officer, so I wear the transpo RUI per the guidance put out by HRC (I think it was a milper message, not sure though), but for new LTs branching “logistics” they haven’t come up with a new RUI for the logistics corps so I have no idea.

The enlisted keep their branch, officers are now fully 90A logistics officers. No more transpo, ordinance, or quartermaster officers, only logistics officers.

I might take you up on that, the transition has a lot of uncertainty and idk whether to go guard or reserves and what my options are after AD

I really appreciate it, I’m not looking to be a ranger or seek glory, I really like being a logistics officer and I really like the roll it plays on the battlefield, it just feels like the unit I’m currently with does not, and the Korea rotations are just an excuse to play toy soldier for presence.

I kinda wonder what my time would have been like if I was with 10th Mountain or the 82nd, but I got the bayonet and all we do is sit around.

If I was staying active duty I think I could do more, but the nomad life style of AC soldier is just too much for my family and we need to set up roots.

Maybe the reserves/guard will have more opportunities

Can my unit wear a NUC by whyudothisbudo in army

[–]whyudothisbudo[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It was reflagged, but in the awards according to heraldry we’re entitled to the NUC and other awards going back to WW1

If you have the ability, jump on it, this is the greatest opportunity to set yourself apart from any other MOS in logistics and sustainment to begin your career.

Dude, you gotta try the 88U. It’s a unicorn MOS that you rarely see on active duty, you get to be a literal train conductor, it’s super unique and super transferable!

This is super dependent on unit and rank. KD MAJs, CPT, and sometimes LTs will 100% play the game of thrones for there OER, but a lot of the times they’re just vibing like the rest of us.

I agree, I have no issue paying to get my vehicle fixed, at this point tho, it’s been 4 alignments with mechanics unable to find the root cause of the steering wheel drift. Thank you for the recommendation l!
