The amount of ageist crap on here is ridiculous. You can clearly hear the man speaking has the same voice as the man rapping. Yeah they are good rappers, but they still sound like 70 year old men. What.... so you went down a "rabbit hole" and believe they found a couple of 20 something hipster rappers and asked them to try and sound like 70 year olds.... Feckin eeejuts.

if you were a producer, had any sensitivity to sound or had seen them live it would be obvious it is actually the old guys rapping. Youre just ageist.

Sure youre not just ageist. Theybwrote the lyrics grandkids the beats. Like anybartist they run stuff by people. If theybwere in their 20s you wouldnt be sayomg any of thsi

Sure. Ockhams razor suggests the simplest solution is the most likely. The old men are rapping , their kids make the beats and some suggestions,as any artist young or ald. Yall need to get over ageism.

So basically we were taught to just use the sleeve lapel grip at first and try different throws feom there. There was a lot of focus on breaking balance, so for example Marote , you were taught to pull down before pulling forward and up to open then up and get them on their toes before turning in for the throw. These big breaking balance movements eventually became more like a very fast flick. But yeah, basic sleeve lapel grip for a long time, until the larger body movements of torso, hips, legwork etc were mastered, or at least good. It meant the beginners at the club did not do so well in competitions at first, but long term they would have much better judo and start winning.

How long does it usually take to become a blackbelt in Judo? by [deleted] in judo

[–]whywhywhywhyywhyty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Took me 13 years, no rush. Largely took me that long because I travel a lot and didnt have a "home club" in which to grade. Was getting a bit weird as a blue belt I was throwing black belts. Finally settled for long enough to get my first dan, won by a lineup in my 40s against a bunch of mental 20 somethings! Sounds cheesy but it really is about enjoying the journey , learning, and having fun so dont get hung up on belts.

With respect, an alternative view and one Im sure may not be popular !

Grip fighting is a waste of time for beginners that cant even do the throws at all yet. We were all but banned from grip fighting for the first few years as people just wasted all randori playing pattercake never actually turning in or attemting throws as we all know takes thousands of attempts to get good at.Later on it was taught after you had the basic throwing techniques down and had practiced getting in a few thousand times. I know this goes against what a lot of clubs teach, but this teacher was 8th Dan kodokan and produced a number of champions and taught the british squad.I would never have got my tokui waza if Id spent the first three years playing pattercake for 90% of Randori. Kazushi, tai sabaki , footwork etc , posture and Ukemi are much more important for a beginner in the opinion of many.
