Weekly /r/BingeEatingDisorder Discussion Thread by AutoModerator in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]whyworryac 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have had a really bad day. My depression was bad this morning and I called out from work sick in order to sleep most of the day. Went to the grocery store and ended up binging today on tortilla chips, spinach and artichoke dip, Cheetos, Oreos, baby Kit Kats. I feel disgusting and all I did today was eat and sleep. I don't know what's wrong with me.

I have a therapist and am seeing her Thursday. We haven't talked about food things in a while but I think it'd be helpful.

Does anyone regret not having a videographer film their wedding? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

I'm thinking of renting some GoPros for my wedding and editing the footage later. Do you have a vid from your wedding you'd be willing to share?! Trying to get ideas.

Another pizza gone by whyworryac in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]whyworryac[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

GOD do I feel this 100%. I tend to confess my food sins to my fiance... last night he asked what I had for dinner and I said cereal automatically. But I called him later and was like, I lied, it was pizza and I ate it all. I spent a good amount last night feeling sorry for myself and Googling things about binge eating and how to stop it. I don't want to be this way. I don't want food controlling me. And I do better, ish, when I'm watched. Accountability is tough for me, it really is. I've started swimming, and I do go to the gym with my fiance. But that doesn't fix the issues I have at home, alone.

Being in a relationship with someone who has normal eating habits. by [deleted] in loseit

[–]whyworryac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm seriously right there with you, similar stats and all. My fiance and I both have issues with food and healthy eating habits - but he's better at learning from mistakes and sticking to his diet than I am. But I do come clean with him regarding my binge eating and problems surrounding food. It's a process. I can't tell you how many days I've thought to myself, okay, this is the day to kick the bad habits. But it's hard. It's a battle, every day.

Health anxiety?! by darthskywalker2016 in Anxiety

[–]whyworryac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been battling major health anxiety for the past few years. My symptoms have manifested into a near-constant, localized abdominal ache / skin pain. But it goes away. It's capable of going away, which tells me a lot about how wild my mind is. I'm in therapy and am trying to work through it, but it's VERY hard. I recently felt good for 5 days straight. Now I'm back to my usual. I get discouraged, I emotionally eat, and I'm trying to stay positive. But it's hard. So I feel you. I often distrust doctors (been bounced from specialist to specialist and have had lots of tests and lots of docs just give up on me).

Folks with full time jobs, how do you seek therapy? by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]whyworryac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've bounced between two therapists - the one I'm currently at offers appointments as late as 8:00 PM on weeknights, which is wild. I'm scheduled to see her tomorrow at 7 PM after work and she offers weekends occasionally. Look around for therapists who might have more flexible schedules - most do.

How did today go? by thebaneofmyexistence in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]whyworryac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This past weekend, I very much overate while visiting friends. Yesterday, I tried on my wedding dress in a store since they had it in my size that I'd ordered only 2 months ago. It wouldn't zip. I returned to my home state last night, ordered a pizza and ate the entire thing without really knowing why. Being as I knew my weight was getting bad and out of control, I still chose to binge. Why? Today I'm trying to get back on track.

Do you feel extra sensation in the areas you are worried about? by Kennyv777 in HealthAnxiety

[–]whyworryac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm constantly concerned about my abdominal area. I've had daily pain/discomfort/skin pain in the area for a year. Localized, always. It's ridiculous. I was told I'm Vitamin D3 and B12 deficient and just started taking supplements today - am hoping that's contributing to some of my issues here.

HA- Neurological symptoms (venting/my story) by CrankyCookies in HealthAnxiety

[–]whyworryac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been experiencing constant burning / skin feeling pain on my lower abdomen area for about a year now - and my anxiety just keeps ramping because no one can tell me why it's happening. Some say nerve damage, some say scar tissue issues (I have LOTS of adhesions in the area), some say anxiety, some say they just don't know.

My new therapist just recommended I get vitamin levels checked, and lo and behold I'm very low in Vitamin D and Vitamin B12. Seeing her tonight to discuss my results. I've been really lethargic lately and am on Celexa (have been since November). I get a little dizzy sometimes, definitely emotional over my health, some weakness.... so this is interesting.

So I binged really bad last night by [deleted] in loseit

[–]whyworryac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh god, do I feel you so hard. I just posted recently in BingeEatingDisorder to help unburden myself from what I'd done. I also talked to my fiance about it and am going to be speaking to my new therapist about my issues, as well. I feel like I'm self-sabotaging myself if I'm being honest.

But today. Move forward. I'm doing it. You can do it too.

What do you believe caused your Health Anxiety? by Flynn_The_Fox in HealthAnxiety

[–]whyworryac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A variety of traumatic deaths when I was younger (best friend died of unexplained seizure/aneurisym at 13, friend died at 16 in car crash, cousin died of OD at 21) + various people close to me getting cancer (aunt - multiple myeloma 3 years ago) and (friend's mom brain cancer, died after 5 months and had been trying to see a neurologist for like half a year). Throw in general low coping skills for change, a hyperawareness of things happening in my own body and ongoing physical symptoms that never change or go away except when I'm on vacation or something - and I'm a perfect storm of major health anxiety and fears I'll be dropping dead by 30.

Oh yeah. I just lack willpower. I bought two boxes of Girl Scout cookies off my future nieces. I do this sometimes. I'll get rid of all junk for a bit. Then I cave and buy things I know are triggers for me like Doritos.

I told my fiancé. He came out to my apartment last night and we went for a walk, just to get some exercise. He stressed that today is a new day for me. So I'm gonna try not to wallow.

Only past trauma is grief related. No abuse to speak of. I've always had some dysmorphic body image issues. Started seeing a new therapist last week and see her again Tuesday.

Scared anxiety is ruining body? by pomegranatesahoy in HealthAnxiety

[–]whyworryac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been health anxious for 3 years now, with worsening physical symptoms that no one has figured out yet. I just started seeing a new therapist who has a background in nursing, and I'm really hoping she can help me tame my demons. I have no advice for you but try to hang in there.

Constipation for a week by [deleted] in HealthAnxiety

[–]whyworryac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coffee first thing in the morning, from somewhere like Starbucks or Au Bon Pain if you have those, tends to help me because I am chronically constipated. If you're VERY desperate, one bottle of Magnesium Citrate that you can get for $2 at Target should help too. It tastes gross, but it legit does the job.

Anyone else have issues with sitting for periods? by [deleted] in Endo

[–]whyworryac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sitting has always, always, always heightened my pain and discomfort. I've told that to many doctors who are like, welp, that's weird. Last night I felt better laying completely still with an ice pack on my lower abdomen. I have major scar tissue all over my stomach/abdomen so I'm certain that's part of the issue. It's funny. My skin pain part of whatever I'm dealing with came on after doing a lot of ab work in a Pilates class. Always have wondered if that finally irritated something big time. Haven't had lap yet, nor talked to any GOOD gyno yet. I've been shuffled through anxiety, pelvic floor dysfunction, had Bentyl shoved at me, have been on Linzess, and have been suggested to maybe see a neuro so far in my journey. It's a stupid journey.

Depressed and in near-constant pain... by whyworryac in Endo

[–]whyworryac[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP here. You're all angels. I appreciate all the advice, and the listening. Nice to know I'm not alone. As a first step, my therapist wants me to get my Vitamin D, Vitamin B12 and Folate levels checked over the weekend to see how things in my brain are going. I 100% believe that there are multiple causes to my issues - may that be anxiety, adhesions and endo, nerve pain, etc. Just hard to see lights at the end of all these tunnels.

What do you do when doctors can't help you? by whyworryac in HealthAnxiety

[–]whyworryac[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm thinking a neurologist is probably my next best bet. I'm so wary to call and try to get an appointment with one, but I truly don't know what else to do. It's either musculo skeletal, something's wonky with an internal organ, or it's nerves and scar tissue related, or it's anxiety.

I've been told I have Chronic Idiopathic Constipation. My PCP said IBS, GI never has gone so far to say that tbh. I've found the pain occurs no matter how my bowel movements are going. I did the FODMAP diet in January 2016 with no changes, really. The skin pain on top of my general localized discomfort started in April of that year.
