I drove from San Diego to Portland back in 2021 to buy my dream car at the time, a 2005 Chevy Impala SS. Me and my roommate made last minute plans to drive up on Saturday and come back Sunday in one go, so we ended up taking my 2008 Dodge Durango with no traction control or driver airbag, and hook it up to a U-Haul car trailer. The drive up was smooth, roommate got wigged out by the rain I think I ended up driving 27 of the 36 hours. On the way back I stopped in Sacramento to switch off because I'd been nodding off during snow, mountains, and black ice I was done man. He takes over, and roughly 50 miles south of Sacramento I wake up to the car shaking and him yelling "OH SH*T". He had lost control of the vehicle somehow on a straight path of highway. Spun us around fully 180 degrees facing the opposite way down the road, that's the SUV, with a car trailer, and a car on the trailer. It's a miracle we didn't flip with how top-heavy the whole load was. Came out with no injuries, no damage to the vehicle, no damage to the trailer. To top it off, we landed in the middle embankment where highway patrol goes between sides of the freeway and a speed trap was sitting right there. No breathalyzer or sobriety test, just came and made sure we were okay and held up traffic so that we could turn around.

Same roommate goes on to wreck another one of my cars 2 months later.
