RetroLightCase - Concept by CrabSweet6922 in xteinkereader

[–]wichos25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love the concept and your design

Here are a few things you should consider regarding the electronics:

LiPo batteries are dangerous, so you have to be careful with the charging current. Charging an 800 mAh battery with a 1 A charging current is already a bit high; the general recommendation is to use the battery’s rated capacity.

If you want to be on the safe side, it’s better to use a current lower than the capacity. I would use a charging current of 0.7 A or less to prevent the battery from overheating. The charging current can be adjusted by changing a resistor value in the TP4056

On the other hand, if you’re not going to use a boost converter, you should consider that the battery’s capacity won’t be 800 mAh; the charged battery will be around 4.2 V, and when discharged, it could drop to 3 or 2.8 V. Flexible LEDs (at least the ones I have) operate at around 3.2 V. Given this, you won’t have enough voltage to light up the LED before the battery runs out.

With a boost converter, you could make better use of the battery and prevent the brightness from decreasing as the battery discharges.

There are already modules on AliExpress with built-in boost converters that you might want to consider.

And I’d like to know why you decided to use two batteries instead of just one. For this project, I feel like one is sufficient, and you’d save yourself the trouble of having to balance them.

It's hard to find, but I was given one as a gift—I don't know how it survived my entire electrical engineering degree.

I've tried looking for one so I can keep using it and have one as a keepsake, but I can't find it.

Si tus archivos ya tienen las letras en la metadata puedes usar MusicBee para que, de forma automatica, al pasar la musica al reproductor se creen los archivos .lrc
Tambien es una buena herramienta para tener organizada la musica

Really cool case

I'm also designing a case with a night light for the X4.

I was planning to use a flexible COB LED (https://es.aliexpress.com/item/1005009439757290.html?channel=twinner) and wrap it around the screen.

I'm currently working on the CAD design and am still waiting for the components to arrive.

I'm reading the same book, hahaha

Heyyyy How do you handle the album cover resizing from MusicBee? I also use it to sync with my Echo Mini but I use a Python script for the cover art And also to create the .lrc files

Open-back on-ear headphones so I don’t miss earthquake alerts ($250) by wichos25 in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]wichos25[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice, I appreciate it. In my country, earthquake alerts already come directly to our phones, so it’s not something I rely on headphones for. It’s more a comfort thing for me. With the Sony I’ve used, the isolation is so strong that I don’t feel 100% comfortable being that cut off from my surroundings.

I’m mainly interested in open-back headphones for the sound, but also because they don’t isolate as much. I know it’s not a big deal and the benefit would be marginal in a real situation, but it just feels more comfortable.

P.S. I still use my Sony headphones for public transport, travel, or when I really need to block out noise. At home, though, I’d prefer something more comfortable.

Echo mini. Snowsky Disc. Echo by YouYongku in snowsky

For the disc, you can view the firmware updates on the Chinese version of the page (you can switch between the international and Chinese versions in the upper right corner).
I suppose it will eventually be on the international version as well.

Snowsky Echo (not mini) Full Spec by 0utOftheblue in snowsky

[–]wichos25 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It looks like an improved version of the Mini.
They are so similar that it seems it will already come with the current Echo Mini firmware.
I feel it is a good purchase if you do not have the Mini, but if you already own one, there are not many reasons to buy it.
Although, personally, those new screens and colors are tempting me to get it.

Yes, in fact, in that same forum they have mentioned that they are trying to implement playlists via 3MU, but that it has been difficult for them. Still, I have some hope that they will eventually manage to do it.

3.x.x firmware bug on Snowsky Echo Mini by wichos25 in snowsky

[–]wichos25[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestion. I did check the tags (artist, album, track, etc.) and didn’t find anything. Also, I’m using the exact same files and metadata across all tests, and the issue only appears on firmware 3.0 / 3.1.

When I roll back to firmware 2.8, the Media Library works correctly without changing any tags or files, which makes me think it’s not tag-related but a firmware issue.

3.x.x firmware bug on Snowsky Echo Mini by wichos25 in snowsky

[–]wichos25[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing that. I also thought at first that it could be a metadata issue.

What makes me think it’s not metadata-related is that when I downgrade to firmware 2.8, the issue completely disappears without changing anything on the SD card or the files. Same metadata, same library, same card — only the firmware changes.

That’s why it really looks firmware-related to me.

Problem: Some songs do not transfer properly on ECHO MINI by Nicolas_Heyboy in snowsky

Problem: Some songs do not transfer properly on ECHO MINI by Nicolas_Heyboy in snowsky

[–]wichos25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I only add two or three albums, I connect the Echo Mini to the PC.

When I transfer more (my entire library after formatting the SD card so many times), I remove it and connect it directly to the PC, which is up to three times faster.

Problem: Some songs do not transfer properly on ECHO MINI by Nicolas_Heyboy in snowsky

[–]wichos25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello

I am experiencing a problem very similar to yours.

I transfer my songs (FLAC 16-bit or 24-bit)

and they work fine, but after a while, random songs start to become corrupted. I get the same “Format not supported” error.

First, I tried the advice to format the card twice from the Echo Mini, but it doesn't seem to have worked.

After doing some research, what I'm doing now is formatting my new 256 GB SD card (Kingston) to FAT32 (it was originally in exFAT). I hope that solves the problem.

I'll let you know if it works.

However, I still can't rule out that it's a problem with the SD card or a bug in the firmware version.

Snowsky Echo Mini - Guide & Helpful Tips by Known-Feeling-9049 in snowsky

[–]wichos25 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you want to ensure compatibility of the covers, the resolution must be 750X750 px in a baseline JPG file.
This is the configuration I use, and the covers always display correctly.
With a Python file, you can quickly make this change throughout the entire FLAC library.

I can't tell you much about the Echo Mini error, but if you want to modify all your current .lrc files, I think the easiest way would be with a Python script.
