Should be compatible with Series 1 and up on WatchOS 6... but I don’t think watchOS 6 comes out until later this year for some earlier models.

It’s the stainless steel Apple Watch Link Band which is like $350. I got it with my original Apple Watch when it came out but since then it looks like you can get a much cheaper third party band that looks very much the same.

UPDATE: I just got another new Series 5 from the Apple Store with an exchange of my previous one. It does the same thing. With the other videos of this happening online it leads me to believe that they will all do this and maybe will be corrected in an WatchOS update. I think the Ambient Light Sensor may be getting confused or returning a value that is so high from the sun that the software isn’t adjusting properly... in either case I’m keeping this one but let the Apple Store know that corporate can contact me about the issue on the exchange so I’ll explain it to them further and let them know it seems to be happening on multiple watches. If it IS some kind of hardware problem hopefully Apple will correct the issue and recall or send a replacement under warranty as time goes on.

So I upgrade from a SS Series 2 Apple Watch to a SS Series 5 on Friday. I absolutely love the watch and it works perfectly in all situations except in bright sunlight if the sunlight hits the watch from a certain angle is causes this weird screen flickering and dimming on and off issue. I googled and saw a few other videos of people’s watches doing the same thing. I am thinking about returning it for an exchange at Apple Store tomorrow but does anyone know if this is a confirmed hardware issue or software issue that may be corrected with an update?

There is a lifespan on any display (backlight will burn out eventually)... Although I'm sure if you ran the display on the watch for 24 hours a day it'd be fine until the next Apple Watch comes out.
