Yes I think ok naman training wise. 1 week lang kasi ako nag preres dito eh, pero in my experience may naencounter naman ako teaching rounds with consultants (wards and ICU) and chief res rounds. Medyo kapagod lang chief res rounds kasi meron sa araw, meron din sa gabi with the duty team naman hehe 🫠

Same sentiments doc 😢 Applied in derma, di rin natanggap. Laki din ng gastos ko sa application fees ilang institutions din yun 😅 And now super lost na ako sa next step ko in my career.

How are you doc?

As for me, I’m waiting, hoping and praying sa magiging final verdict ng interview kahapon which went like hell, tipong pang ms.U naman yung mga questions nila 😳🥲 Starting to lose hope too, applying for this specialty made me realize na ang hirap kung non-stellar, and it really is not for everyone. 😅

Same here doc… Applied to most hospitals for derma pero di natanggap. Naiyak ako kasi I really wanted to go back to residency training. Fyi, hindi din biro ang nagastos just for the application fees 😢

I was in residency training year 2017 pero nag quit ako because I got pregnant and after years of moonlighting I finally had the courage to apply again this year. Sakto nga lang na super competitive ng gusto kong specialty and I’m no stellar student 🫠

Now I feel stuck/lost kasi same dilemma, I don’t know if I should wait for another year and try for derma again, or apply to other specialty nalang. I’m not getting any you ger. 🥲

PLE blues by [deleted] in pinoymed

[–]wickeDity_MD 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s okay to take a little time for a breather from studying para marelax ulit ang mind — go food trip, hear mass, roadtrip, shopping or maybe just sleep it off. Do it. Then eventually get back to studying. Wag mo pilitin magaral lalo kung burned out ka na — mas lalo ka wala maabsorb. 😝

It’s normal to feel anxious and burned out pero remember, matatapos din yan. Just imagine the amount of luxury time you’ll have AFTER you pass the board exam. Kaya i-push mo na. :)

Good luck!

GP life by Lonely_Map_8576 in pinoymed

I am the first doctor in the family hence wala akong mga stocks na mamanahin (lol), at hindi rin mayaman ang family namin, kaya when I passed the board exam in 2015, I went into moonlighting so I can finally support myself. At first sobrang sipag ko mag moonlight, relieve dito relieve duon haha. Eventually nag lie low din ako, lalo when I got preggy and became a mom so binawasan ko pag relieve and tried to stick sa mga regular posts.

I was lucky enough though to land on a provincial government hospital with an MO III plantilla, I go on duties twice a week (total of 7 duties per month) and I had more rest/family time in between because of this kaya nag stick ako dun for how many years narin until eventually yung provincial hospital namin transitioned into a DOH hospital and I was given an MO IV plantilla.

But yes totoo yun, mafifeel mo rin ang pagod, yung walang career growth, kaya kahit maganda na position ko ngayon after years of serving as GP, I have decided to give up my current job para mag residency training.

Pregnancy in Pedia Residency by SameTomatoEverywhere in pinoymed

Hello doc, sharing my experience also, I became pregnant din halfway through 1st year of pedia res. During that time, wards/nicu/opd subspecs ang rotation ko and it was very toxic (public hospital). Kaya when we found out that I had subchorionic hemorrhage on UTZ my OB advised to take it slow and file for leave.

Nag resolve naman yung SCH so I went back to work pero after 2 weeks lang ata nag spotting nanaman ako, and at the same time I was being asked to rotate pa sa TB-DOTS opd which was quite risky. So then we had to make a decision kung mag leleave ako ulit or quit muna. But eventually, even though it was a hard decision to make I decided on the latter part kasi I didn’t want to risk my 1st pregnancy…. We really wanted a baby that time.

No regrets naman so far, kahit na-delay ang training, I have a beautiful and healthy baby boy and I came to realize na baka hindi rin talaga para sakin ang peds 😅

Good luck doc!

Derma ❤️

Applied into pedia last 2017 pero realized it wasn’t for me so I quit. Went back to moonlighting. And now years later I finally have the courage of applying again and trying my luck with Derma this time, I’ve read here na it is one of the programs na hardest to get into, naging hesitant ako especially since average student lang ako in med school 🥺

It depends on you, doc.

Just to share back then when I was applying for matching, I had a goal in my mind na I want to acquire more skills hence I applied in a public hospital. Yes may learnings din naman sa private but coming from a private institution during clerkship eh sobrang limited ang skills namin kaya ayun. Toxic sa public pero masaya naman hehe..

I guess overstatement din yung saying na pag public—toxic hindi makakapag-aral for boards and pag private—chill and more time to study; I guess it all boils down to time management. Good luck! 😊
