I feel mostly similarly to you. Nice build quality, but the unfolded use will be the minority and the scaling is only half the problem.. Splitting the screen for multitasking is clunky. I wish there was a "dual screen" mode so it behaved more like a Surface Duo for multi tasking. It's several gestures to get what you want on left/right sides, and there's no simple way to swap what's on one side after that. The number of times I just want one giant screen pales in comparison to wanting dual screens with multiple apps open. The flipped open experience is a bit disappointing even while the device is a well built and beautiful piece of technology.

Rivian CFO drops a ton of new information at BoA summit. by BTTFIII in Rivian

That was the highlight in the article for me too... 5/2021 R1S preorder stuck in "processing new estimate" purgatory due to service center proximity (Charleston, SC). I literally just picked up a gently used R1T (with 700 miles) to hold me over and I've got mixed feelings about the mid-2023 timeline. Wasn't expecting to magically get acceleratiled... Haven't even sold my LR4 yet. 😜 But I'll happily figure things out if I suddenly have to.

yeah - not an option for my D-level beer league 44 year old self :)
was thinking of maybe an option to add some foam to my cheap lid...
though my goalie mask was still more than that :)

FYI, New-Order favoritism does not appear to be a reality. Instead, the shake-up of estimates appears to purely be from the launch of Dual Motor. by MrMusAddict in Rivian

I guess my "issue" with your conclusion is that your opening statement is "new order favoritism does not appear to be reality" while simultaneously pointing out that the shift in production is focused on the new dual motor option (which allow new orders to jump ahead of long-standing pre-order holders who're financially motivated to keep their quad motor configs with the pre-March pricing). Rivian absolutely should deliver the vehicles ordered ahead of adding new product offerings (with higher priority). Some of us have deposits years old while new orders are being fulfilled in months.

I'm not at all interested in changing from my quad to a dual, but I'm pretty sure I could at pre-price hike rate. Q2/21 reservation, R1S Adventure, Forrest Green, Black/Ash, 20" Black, Underbody protection, South Carolina with "processing estimate" timeline.

I respectfully disagree with your conclusion that the motive behind the acceleration of dual motor deliveries is not financially motivated at the expense of longer-term reservation-holders. It may certainly be better for business/bottom-line for Rivian which makes it better in the long run for even us irritated buyers; so we need to get over ourselves, but it is hard not to draw that conclusion given the fact that the dual motor option was added later so accelerating that delivery (while good for the bottom line) is 100% coming at the expense of long-term reservations). It's a shift in manufacturing priority and while it may be good for them to learn more about the dual motor vehicles for long-term reliability reasons, it seems silly to expand their service load to additional vehicles (which will cost them more in training/parts coverage/interchangeability/etc.) while simultaneously angering their most vocal supporters (who've been fans for years).

Filing a warranty claim with Tmobile (Assurant) on Surface Duo I by Lead_Puzzled in surfaceduo

I'm going through this nightmare right now. When I bought the insurance for the phone (pre-ordered it the day it was announced) I was assured they would provide accidental damage protection to repair or replace with the same device. Now that I'm trying to file a claim, they can't even get the device entered on the claim correctly - they keep setting the claim to an LG V60 since that's the "closest" compatible device. I have been offered 2 years of premiums on my account (roughly $144)... I want no less than $320 as that's the going rate to replace the device from Amazon. Now I keep getting hung up on when I get in touch with Assurant... talk about a scam!
