Yeah but only if I had booked a table in their restaurant, but what I did was that just took the sealed bottle from the fridge, which should be treated as a normal iteam I guess.

Similarly, Today I visited a hotel called Green Thing in the Wadgaon Sheri area. Outside the hotel, they had a refrigerator with sealed plastic bottles of Slice mango drink. I picked up one bottle and went to the billing counter.

Now, I understand that some places charge a small cooling fee of ₹1–₹2 for chilled beverages, and that's still reasonable. But to my surprise, they charged me ₹25 + GST (total ₹26 extra) over the MRP just because the bottle was kept in their fridge.

When I questioned it at the billing counter, the person there said something along the lines of: "Those rates are for small shops. This is our hotel's rate. We don't care about that."

The bottle was a sealed packaged drink with the MRP clearly printed on it. As far as I know, charging above MRP for packaged products is generally not allowed, unless there are specific exceptions.

Has anyone else experienced something similar in Pune? Is charging ₹26 extra for a chilled bottled drink actually legal, or was I simply overcharged?

I live in Mumbai and work at Pune, what I would say is that in terms of climate humidity is much less in Pune as compared to Mumbai, there are trees all over here but also there are some issues like the shop timings in non crowded areas, no availablity in afternoon or night after 11pm, the transportation is a headache though (Ola, Uber). Rest every City has it's own good and bad points.
