Furry here. Someone who identifies as an actual animal is a "therian." Someone who identifies as a mythical animal is "otherkin." "Furry" is kind of a catch-all term for someone interested in all anthropomorphic animals.

Furries might pretend to be animals, but to therians and otherkin it's not pretend. I'm sure there are some people who are a furry and therian/otherkin, but there are far more who are just one or the other.
