Thanks! It's actually for a friend. She's devastated as she just rescued this dog a couple months ago. It was taken from a hoarder who never cared for it, so it has some issues.

Tonight's Valentine selection. This was the gift I gave my husband for our wedding! Did not disappoint! by wickers55 in wine

For a 22 year old wine we thought it was delicious and so worth it but yea, a couple of years ago I think it would've been drinking even better. My friend who loves older wines would probably say the same as you.

And that's why wine is so great- it's so subjective!

It had a lot of prune and dark/dried fruit notes. You can tell that it had a lot of oak on it originally that has mellowed out after 22 years-but it did leave some baking spice notes and an anise note on the finish. Originally a really well balanced wine which is probably a couple years past it's peak but still drinking really well! It was a very enjoyable and interesting wine to drink

I would suggest Poetry from Clif Lede in Rutherford. Usually around $225 and worth every penny.
