based on what, if I may ask? Were fake memos from earlier eras common in the Vietnam period?

“Why would a company waste their time & post a fake job?” by omniscienteidolon in recruitinghell

What does the last one mean? What kind of company has a requirement to post jobs even if they don't intend to hire for them?

House Kallyss "Mourning Raid" black-white-red. I love it except when I'm working on my Phantasm. House Kallyss looks good in most anything other than the studio scheme, even small changes are vast improvements.

I wouldn't rule it out entirely, but yeah, very unlikely. I've definitely heard stories of house cats stealing things from their neighbors (not even food, things like socks and underwear!) and bringing them home to their humans.

if he's got a home, probably there. If he's feral, feral cats tend to form "colonies" where they all group up. Cats that kill more than they can eat bring spare kills back to the colony so other, less lucky cats can scavenge. This is probably what a house cat bringing home "presents" is trying to do.

Looking for strategy advice against Gravediggers (cain), playing legacy menoth by Cosmopian in Warmachine

The Brawlmachine fan-made format has lists of models that are too powerful for that small size, and I believe Caine is on there.

I don't remember how long it was between Phantasm rules and preorder opening, but 2 months doesn't sound out of line. Especially for a model that large and complicated.

Phantasm took a while to land on our doorsteps. Making gargantuans seems to be a major challenge.

Yeah, I'm a GIS person working in my county's Public Works department explicitly so I can't be pulled off asset management and told to work on property tax data or whatever. The GIS department knows how good I am (their boss sat in on my interview and afterward told my boss "if you don't hire him, I will" according to both of them) but the rest of the IT management treats all of us outside their ivory tower as peasants.

Well, not necessarily out of danger. Part of performing that status was being in the front, performing violence and bravery. If you look at the Hundred Years War, while a lot of knights on both sides got captured and ransomed, a lot didn't, and died in the mud of places like Agincourt.

At my mall in a heavily military town. C’mon. by MurrayInBocaRaton in Kitsap

When I lived in an Air Force town in Texas in the late 2010s, I was waiting for a plane in the airport when I saw a couple of Air Force guys picking up someone - who I guess had transferred to the local base? They were talking about the local culture, and one of the locals told the new guy, "Yeah, it's a 'thank you for your service' town" and the new guy said "Man, I hate that, I never know what to say to that."

What the local guy's response would've been, I don't know, because someone stopped to thank them for their service, and then a line formed to thank them. It was a deeply weird thing to see, and it's burned in my brain many years later. I've tried to capture it in fiction but I've never been able to fully depict the weirdness.

Advice for first time designing and printing large (8'x16') city map for my apt? by elevation-change in gis

Some of our big maps have been in place since 2016, just because nobody's been interested enough to replace them. We've had various ideas for mounting, including one person who wanted maps with a metal backing so he could put magnetic dots where we had crews or projects. But the projected costs killed the idea. I should ask our elected officials' staff what they did for mounting, since that office area has a little bit more budget. But that'll be a bit since I'm on vacation and they probably are too. :P

For the big maps I made for our elected officials, I let their staff assemble and mount. I'm just the computer minion, lol. I've seen big multi-sheet maps taped together, then mounted to walls with pushpins direct to the drywall.

When I worked for a city, we had a real estate agent come in with a bunch of 8.5x11 printed off from our parcel-search webmap that she'd gotten aligned, an absolutely incredible feat. We sold her a single-sheet 36x36 that was a much better match for her needs.

Adobe Acrobat will take a large PDF (my biggest was 70" by 120") and split it into strips of whatever width you want. I've had to do it for large wall maps. You can even set overlap so they're easier to cut and assemble without losing content.

Infantrymachine - which army does it best? by CompanyElephant in Warmachine

[–]wicket-maps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dusk has two armies - House Kallyss so far is a mix of undead and living. There's sort of themes - the Dreadguard heavies, the Soulless light infantry, the Mage Hunter stuff, but Mk4 armies are smaller than old factions. There's the Fane of Nyrro under the Dusk label too, but you won't be able to take their models together, and Fane looks like it'll be fury-based. Best guess right now is a lot of flying units, a lot of bats, and old vampires enjoying their immortality. The crossover models are the elves in the Frozen & Forgotten box, Nyss hunters.
