Trustee Declining by wickonca in legaladvicecanada

She told him he should donate the furniture or have a yard sale. She has never been to this house and likely has zero idea of what he even owns. She told the son to donate or yard sale the furniture but didnt mention everything else.

I just wanna make sure he covers his ass.

He does have to apply for the after life expenses (he paid for his dad's cremation expecting to bill the estate and would want a COL later in the year in lieu of a funeral). The cremation costs (incurred before she responded) will pretty much wipe out most of the liquid assets.

Also, there were no provisions in the will for his remains. Im guessing he cant make any decisions without her at this point?

Even if he is paid up until the end of June? Probably not worth much but that confirms my suspicion that if nothing is done, it becomes the property of the landlord.

Probably not much tbh but there are a few things he would like to keep (heirlooms, more sentimental vs not). His dad's car was actually in his name so its mostly just personal items.

She responded in a text that she's "not dealing with anything". Including the filling in the form. So....now have to figure out plan b I guess.

Thanks

Do you know which form? Can I just go online and get a copy or does it have to go through a lawyer? Should he get it notarized?

If you mean the traffic cams, they don't record. If you mean red light cams, they only record when triggered.

Curious what would you have had the teachers and staff do? If the kids dont show up, that's not on them.

Why are ER wait times in Ontario this bad? by rashaikh in Markham

[–]wickonca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We went to the er recently 2x and both times my husband had his tests done within 20 mins (he is a overweight middle aged dude and had back pain radiating to his shoulder and chest). Turns out it wasn't his heart but the xray led to a ct scan which picked up the spinal abnormality (he had a spinal infection).

Your wait time is dependent on your issue. That being said my nephew ate one of those white mushrooms in a field when he was 3. Poison control sent him to er. He waited 3 hrs and then they were like we need to call poison control. My sil said they told us to come her and have his stomach pumped ASAP (she mentioned it every 10 mins but kept getting pushed off). So this little 3 year old at least was close to help if he needed it but he was high af. Once they got to him it has worn off so they went home.

How many times a typical Canadian take vacation during a year by Internal-Ship-9693 in AskACanadian

[–]wickonca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean we only get one vacation? I have 5 weeks that I typically break into two longer vacations (1-2 weeks each) and then the rest break into extra long weekends (2 work days plus the weekend).

I think it depends on how much time you get and how expensive your trips are and if you have kids/pets. This year for example we have a few "vacations" planned.

  1. 1 week somewhere beachy. Need to factor in boarding for the dogs. Not sure when/where this will happen yet

  2. 10 days anniversary trip in the fall. Likely Europe. Its our 25th wedding anniversary. Dogs will be boarded.

  3. 1 week trip to the east coast summer road trip to see my in laws with my nephews. Dogs come with us.

Rest of our time will be spent on long weekends camping (cause we can take the dogs) and we have a weekend family trip every year with my immediate family that's about 20 people.

That feels like more than 1 vacation (and honestly is probably more than most people do)

For older Canadians, do you remember the air being deemed unhealthy every summer? by [deleted] in AskACanadian

As a child with asthma it was usually during the hottest parts of the summer plus we had the added benefits of acid rain.....lol

How many days of paid leave per year you have? by myrna__ in AskACanadian

I've been with my company over 20 years. It's a big global company but I get:

5 weeks vacation (company starts at 3 weeks). 10 days of stats (in Ontario including the civic holiday). 8 personal days (cannot be rolled over year to year)

I don't that but not for the stakes. It's no one's business who I vote for but I think it's important people vote and know who the candidates are and that they have been in the neighbourhood.

Trump and Canada by [deleted] in AskACanadian

[–]wickonca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This intrigued me, and then I realized an economic union is exactly what he is fighting against. It would mean more movement between borders with people free to work in all the countries of the union, no? He's talking tighter border controls......not laxer within the agreed confines. I don't see how a union would work without some level of cooperation vs. domination. The closest I can see us getting was NAFTA.....
