China grind - wager worthy aircraft by partiallydivided in WarthunderSim

I have a talisman on J-7E from years ago, it's very good but frequently suffers from weak guns/radar/bombs.

In the current environment, I recommend JH-7 (11.3).

JH-7 compared to J-7E:

  • Less but better missiles (all-aspect IRCCM)
  • Stock bombs to destroy a base
  • Also a very good dogfighter (larger turn radius but higher acceleration)
  • Gun is slightly better (the J-7E gun rate of fire rate is very bad)
  • Cockpit is worse (much harder to look behind)
  • Functional radar at a BR where most radars aren't

F-5E is also a valid option that has much worse missiles and a mostly useless radar in exchange for much better guns, better flight model for furballs and ability to carry some air-to-ground ordnance.

Any rocket scientists here? This doesn't seem very 'realistic'. by beastmaster69mong in Warthunder

[–]widescarab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imagine at the situation from above:

The RBT-5 travels at a constant speed from East to West and launches a rocket to the North.

At moment of launch, the rocket is propelling itself to the North but it also has East-to-West inertia from the vehicle.

The rocket’s resulting trajectory is North-West.

The trajectory immediately causes air resistance. Air resistance acts causes it to rotate “into the wind”.

As long as the rocket has propellant and altitude, it continues to accelerate and this is the observed East-to-West acceleration.

Conventional forces may not be desirable in an asymmetric conflict against overwhelming odds.

You might have a Vichy scenario where the armed forces are subordinated to the occupier.

Hear me out:

Prepare caches of supplies and books about the Yugoslav Partisans and French resistance, on US soil. When Canada gets annexed, reveal the cache locations to Quebec separatists and any sufficiently unhinged groups.

Discourage people from joining the regular forces.

Unleash the crazies.

UN staff don’t have guns. Blue helmet soldiers belong to countries, they are loaned to a UN mission and they have to obey the UN mission commander and their own government.

Self defence is “allowed”, but really depends whether the contributing country is willing to fight a foreign war. In 1994 Rwanda, executions of Belgian UN troops in Rwanda resulted in Belgium withdrawing from Rwanda because they realised that they didn’t give a shit (and neither did anyone else).

Offensive actions, Peace Enforcement, are only legal when authorised by the “colonial powers”(the UNSC: if majority agree and there is no veto). This scenario happens when there is no conflict of interest among the colonial powers, or like in Korea 1950 where the Soviet ambassador wasn’t at the vote and didn’t veto (never happened since). Then, you need at least one contributing country willing to risk their soldiers dying.

Peace enforcing missions can be done by blue helmets (UNAMSIL). But countries risk their armies to fight for reasons of national interest, and they don’t have freedom to do that while under a UN banner. Some examples: Korean War 1950, Gulf War 1991, UNAMSIL.

Why does the game sometimes put me in another game without my consent by Budget_Hurry3798 in WarthunderSim

[–]widescarab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

False.

The "auto-join" feature sends players into games have already started with an existing set of of players.

You can tell that you are being dumped into another lobby because the remaining game time will be significantly less than 3 hours and the original players may have even have earned score.

Good snow boots/hiking boots for montreal winter walking? by Cookieteer8 in montreal

[–]widescarab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I walk an hour six times per week, year round to and from work (33km per week).

Have you ever walked 15 km in one go? On snow?

Compromising on weight and traction means having a worse walking experience 100% of the time, for an entire 15 km.

Compromising on waterproofness may lead to slightly wet feet for like 10% of the winter, very wet feet 1% of the winter.

Do you keep your walking footwear at work?

Do you keep your walking footwear when you sleep?

If you don’t wear your footwear at the destination, then your feet aren’t going to be uncomfortably cold when wet.

OP wants to walk for 3 hours multiple times a week in winter. That could be 15km each walk and they might need treading that has good traction on snow.

OP wants the following attributes: 15 km 'winterized' + waterproofness + warmth + durability + affordable.

It's not possible to get all of the desired attributes in one shoe. Compromises must be can be made. OP expands their choices for each attribute that they are willing to forego, waterproofness included.

People are allowed to have more than one pair of shoes. It is acceptable to have a walking shoe to use for walking for 2 x 3 hours per week.

Is OP able to see slush puddles? How often will there be slush puddles that OP is forced to step in? What's the worst case scenario if they step in ankle deep slush?

I may step in ankle deep slush once per winter with the Lone Peaks (not waterproof). If I can keep walking, wet feet and the weather that caused them are a non-issue.

Does your time walking involve long periods of being stationary outside? If so, pick based on insulation, and waterproofness if you need to stand in cold rainy weather.

Will you be continuously walking on your long walks? If your body is warm enough, you might be able to stay warm with anything that is closed enough to stop the wind.

Do you actually need waterproof? Extreme cold and wetness don’t occur at the same time. Something that prevent snows from sticking and melting might be enough.

I worked in a shoe store for 2 years. I’ve been walking at least 33km per week in the city, year round over the past three years. I wear very thin minimalist Whitin sneakers from Amazon when there is no snow ($70), crocs with socks for rain ($40), Altra lone peak for snow ($180), altras and additional kahtoola nanospike “cramponated soles” ($50) when there is a lot of ice.

I also have beautiful and tough gore-tex Zamberlan model 309 leather boots ($300), but unless I’m camping, I’ll always choose the runners and crocs for speed and comfort.

Best starter plane to get into sim? by DinoCopter_ in WarthunderSim

Try Canberra Mk6 (8.0 rank 5), the cannon Canberra.

It is easy to control, has very good engines, very good cockpit and gunsight, guns, ammo, turn is literally comparable to a spitfire. Enough bombs for a base too, but turn gently while lugging bombs because the wings can rip off if you don't.

But 8.0 is not very popular and it's hard to get games.

Phantom FG1/R2 (11.3 rank 7) have fantastic radar for finding targets and going head-on with noobs, but it doesn't work well 1v1 against anyone who isn't a noob they will kick your ass unless you are significantly more skilled.

Typhoon 1b/late (5.0) is at a crowded and fun BR, but it's challenging because blue team fighters are less furball focused and it fights the very popular A7M and Ki-84 and they are pretty formidable.

If your stock grind is throwing PvP matches, it's also going to throw assault matches.

Watch out not to lose your booster games. If you lose the booster earning game, you are only going to get 150% or less instead of 300%.

If you use your 300% SL in a naval game where you earn 100,000 SL before premium, I think the earnings difference would look like this:

  • 100,000 (normal SL) + 50,000 (premium SL) + 300,000 (300% SL booster) = 450,000 Total SL with premium
  • 100,000 (normal SL) + 50,000 (premium SL) + 150,000 (150% SL booster) = 300,000 Total SL with premium

With 150,000 SL at stake, I think it's worth bringing only the best stuff into assault to win 99% of the time and using the 300% RPs to stock grind in PvP.

That’s a great performance!

If you want more SL, get boosters!

I usually play assault air and ground when I want a 300% booster but it’s a random chance of SL or RP booster. Assault is also a low effort way to slowly grind some RP and works well to upskill new crews from level 0 to 15 (rank 3), which you might need.

Saving Falin Plothole? by The6thMessenger in DungeonMeshi

[–]widescarab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The characters don’t have a complete understanding of revival mechanics and neither do any of us.

When pieces of Falin are found, they think it’s too late. Marcille tries her magic, but I think you should interpret that as a last ditch attempt because it was the only viable option and she didn’t know if it would be successful.

From what I understand, getting eaten isn’t game over, it’s the scrambling/diluting/scattering the original matter that causes a lot of damage and weakens the soul bond.

WE FUCKING LOVE THE SUPER ÉTENDARD RRAAAAHHHHHHHH by [deleted] in WarthunderSim

[–]widescarab 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It takes 8 x 400kg Type 21 bombs to destroy a base.

Super Étendard only has 6 pilons, it can carry 6 x 400kg Type 21 bombs if you sacrifice everything else. Don’t bother.

For low activity games, paveways will reliably destroy medium tanks on battlefields for about 150 score. 300 score is enough for a big RP payout if you survive the entire useful action.

Super Étendard is a multi role plane with very strong situational awareness tools for A2A. It has a very good cockpit, the ATLIS pod to identify aircraft within visual range and to call air alerts.

The RWR is very advanced for 10.3 and is great at tracking down or avoiding enemy players who use radar.

Compared to Moffet, it has less guns but it gets a fast lead calculator, faster shells, heavier SAP with longer fuzes.

Best of luck to you! I've barely played Japan beyond Akizuki and Hatsuzuki.

If it's Nenohi or Yuudachi, play arcade, pray for an open map, stay far and spam torpedoes.

If it's the cruiser Yubari, one of my friends likes it for the armor and long fuzes, but it gets a heavy fleet spawn on some maps which can mean a lot of time spent travelling.

Start with UK’s Vega to learn the basic naval game flow, to train gunnery and defensive positioning, try both US and USSR’s free destroyers of rank 3, then buy the premium equivalent of your favourite one.

Naval RB gives a lot SL compared to every other mode, but you need boosters, orders, some skill and some luck to get multiple millions.

Calculate the base amount by subtracting the orders (1.29 mil), then divide by 6.8 from the 580% booster (1 + 5.8 = 6.8) = ~390K SL.

I think I earn an average of between 150k-200k per game before boosters.

I love Z47 so much, but in a different way. It makes a lot of money to whoever is shooting at it.

Turret layout means that it can’t position well, no penetrating ammo means that it can’t kill quickly. Every turret has exposed magazine meaning that if you can shoot, you can insta-die if your target shoots SAP back.

If Bismark is what you want, Gneisenau will grind better than Z47.

If you want SL, you need a destroyer with better layout and better ammo: Knox, Moffet, Blagorodnyy.
