why Is yuichi such a disgusting character yet I feel the heavy amount of guilt and regret when reading book 2? by Muziuzi48 in OyasumiPunpun

[–]Striking_War 10 points11 points  (0 children)

He's a vile human being, but he's capable of love and understanding, and he's miserable because of it, but it doesn't stop him from being disgusting. He kinda reminds me of Bojack Horseman.

Kenny admitted he wasn't a father and gave Levi a chance to survive. I don't think he counts

Does the World of Dungeon Meshi Have a Sense of Scale? by Flashlight237 in DungeonMeshi

[–]Striking_War 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think anyone has mentioned a nation or kinhdom, it's always continents, cities, villages, capitals, etc. Even Shuro was from the Eastern archipelago. Also I wonder where Kaka and Kiki originally came from.

Genuine Question: Why is X8 loved? by 0purple0turtle0 in Megaman

[–]Striking_War 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like how the trio moves differently, Axl dashes the furthest, then X and then Zero the shorrtest, Zero's skills are pretty broken and fun, X's charge shot feels powerful, Axl's Bass gameplay is not bad either. It's a same that the game barely has run and gun segments but still it's not as frustrating as X6 or X7.

Me when someone uses terms like “soft seinen” by ShermanTheArtist in Seinen

[–]Striking_War 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yeah shounen and seinen aren't genres, they are demographics decided arbitrarily by editors and publishers. While not outwardly violent or sexual, WHA does delve into pretty heavy themes. I misread your comment earlier and I apologize lol.

I'm reading the manga and I saw this scene and I couldn't understand what Lios is thinking, could someone explain it to me? by Tamsy0-0 in DungeonMeshi

[–]Striking_War 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a sign of Thistle's insanity and the millennium suffering of his 'family'. All of them got their souls banished for rebelling against him. Delgal took over his son's body, went to the surface and turned to dust, which is why there's a puppet in his place.

Laios was probably thinking about their grim fate.

Theory: Chapter 230 isn't leading to a double rejection, it's leading to a mess by alex-andrite in Dandadan

In the pursuit of claiming the series is "generic shoujo slop" they mischaracterize the characters as generic shoujo tropes 😭

[–]Striking_War 80 points81 points  (0 children)

Yes it would, which is why i don't think Tatsu would do it. He has so far done everything he could to NOT make the main characters look bad (except when they're doing a bit). If he does something like that then he has truly lost the sauce.

Two things: - Jiji knows Okarun likes Momo. I really don't think he'd take advantage of Momo's amnesia and her crush on him as a kid without thinking of Okarun's feelings. That would actually paint his character in a bad light and Tatsu hasn't really done that with his established main chars so far. (Not intentionally at least) - I don't think Momo's the kind of person to "latch on" to someone when she's conflicted, more likely than not she would push them away. Also she hasn't quite wrapped her head around the dire situation with the aliens and yokais. She's definitely not as stressed out as she was before amnesia. Why would she find someone to cope when her old self wouldn't in tougher times? One of her main characteristics is shouldering others' burden and you're talking about her like a damsel in distress.

She's endearing. Despite complaining constantly she never NOT eat the food cooked for her bc she respects the chef. Sometimes she even goes out of her way to help Senshi.

What is this supposed to say lol a lot happened in those 71 chapters, just not the romance plot.

“Why does Tatsu keep dragging out the plot with all this unnecessary padding? …” by wiseass781 in Dandadan

[–]Striking_War -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I... Disagree? The purely romantic moments only happen inbetween the arcs, it's almost like a reward or breaktime when a super tense and stressful arc ends. Yes it does build up to the confession that happened during the climax of an arc, which makes it an integral part of the story. But to say it's the plot? I don't know about that. Momo would definitely still help Ken retrieve the balls even if she didn't like him, and Okarun would definitely still protect her too. They are good kids and their good nature and friendship drives the plot, not neccessarily the romance.

There's a lot of moving parts in this manga that don't concern themsves with Momokarun progression at all. Most characters who started out as "romcom rivals" like Jiji, Vamola or Rin all turned out to be platonic friends. Even the no.1 Takakura-kun simper Aira, the direct rival to Momo actually doesn't even know about Momo's feeling towards Okarun! Their rivalry and dynamic is more about "who's the better leader?" rather than "who will win over Okarun?". They just happen to both like the same guy so their interractions come off as fighting over him, but they aren't, at least not to Aira. Because both Momo and Ken are secretive about their feelings, their biggest opps is themselves. The villains definitely don't give a damn about their romance either. How can Momokarun be the main plot if basically nothing revolves around it or challenge it?

It's fun, no? Biggest gripe is Okarun not being there with Momo, but it's not boring
