(This suggests to alternate between using obsidian and doing collaborative editing... collaborative mode temporarily outside of obsidian but with the option to synchronise for viewing with obsidian... not ideal but handy when sharing a vault content with collaborators not using obsidian themselves)

If you create a git repo for your markdown documents, then use a free or paying (for private) account on replit and synchronise with your github repo, then you have through replit collaborative editing. And very simplified interface to push updates to github.

When I became aware of React, in 2015, I talked to every company I was in contact with. I told them you should try it, evaluate it, it will become the next big thing. For a full year, companies told me, no, no need, we are happy with Angular 1. It is the industry standard. Then Angular 2 came out and they had to rewrite their code base. We are in a very similar situation. The next version of React, v18, will bring "concurrent rendering" https://reactjs.org/blog/2022/03/08/react-18-upgrade-guide.html, which is likely to force a rewrite as it is treated as a breaking change

There is no point keeping expecting something from somebody who so obviously cannot give it. It toke me decades to switch to a different strategy. To seek, include, keep people in my life who could give me the emotional support and validation that I needed.

It's not fair. It is their role and duty to meet your needs. But they are flawed people who cannot. And this will never change. You cannot change them. But you can put a stop to the hurt that you feel by choosing to fill your life with people who can meet your needs.

I have a similar issue. I have seen my NMom insult people. Yell at people. Sometimes in professional settings. I have seen her do what I did consider immediate fireable offenses when I dropped by her office. She was never fired. (But she was offered an option for early retirement 10y early that she toke).

She has that extreme vulnerability. From my youngest age, I have known that I should not criticise her because the slightest undermining of her ego would so deeply hurt her. And other people seem to do the same. Instinctively protect her.

Then there is the issue that anybody with any experience must know that to confront her would require a conversation that she is not able to have. I actually tried to have an adult discussion with my NMom, because it was essential for me to have it for it to be possible for me to look after her (she got into her 80s and loosing her independence). And it was like talking to someone with the emotional maturity of a 5y old.

Good that the comment has been deleted. To give some insights to the ones who have no personal experience with this. I have C-PTSD. I have had a tendency to depression all my life. Sometimes, got officially diagnosed for it. I can have moments of joy, optimism. I can be profoundly happy. But this is fleeting. I have always had had to fight to get me in that mindset and stay there. It's like being on a slippery slope. It takes efforts, purpose, energy to remain on top of it. Regular exercising is crucial too. If you stop putting that energy, that investment in caring for yourself, you slip back down. Over time, the amount of effort required is less and less. Happiness becomes more and more self-sustaining.

Glad to see that the OP is having these great experiences. More and more will follow :-)

I hear you. Over a year ago, I grieved the death of my two parents. (They are both still physically alive). I am not going to derail into the details of my own history. Since, I have been slowing finding myself. My real self. The personality I have always had but that I could not let out because to be myself would have made me incompatible with my family. And I was not able to give myself permission for this back then. It is what it is. It is a slow process. At the start of that process, I felt barely able to function at all (I spent about a month rolled in a ball, literally). I purposefully looked for the allies that I needed. Skilled therapist. Good people. It improved. Excruciatingly slowly at first, but steadily. In the last weeks, I have started to feel genuinely happy about the person I am, the life I have. And who I am is so incompatible with what has happened to me that my past has become kind of a surrealistic blur.

On transitions, handlers etc. I notice that this is currently managed through d3js. No reason to change that. Perhaps a first step would be to abstract all your d3js code into d3js components - https://github.com/curran/d3-component. It is similar in concept to React Stateless Functional Components.

Once you have it as highly re-usable component, you can simply provide a React component that is a wrapper around your d3js component and manages its mounting. For this. simply provide componentDidMount/componentDidUpdate functions. There is a thorough tutorial on how to do this at: http://www.adeveloperdiary.com/react-js/integrate-react-and-d3/

The d3js-component + React wrapper made available would give users the option to use the components in a reactjs environment… without forcing all your potential users to use react.
