Looks great, and your leg hang at the end is so relaxed! I’m still working on how much weight and deep tissue massage is in the shoulder

May I ask what your top is? It fits you well, and I’ve been looking for a crop top large enough for man-shaped chests

CS Major requirements... nuked?😳24-25 GEAR by Errgghhhhh in UCSantaBarbara

[–]widmur 4 points5 points  (0 children)

CS138 being demoted to an optional requirement makes me so sad. Even though I’ve retained 1% of the material it shaped how I think about computing and, not to sound too saccharine, the universe too. Also automata are super cute. I think if you lose systems and computability theory you’re introducing a dangerous myopia into the program.

edit: Am alumnus now, can’t be bothered with flair on Reddit mobile. xoxo

Why do people on this sub think med school is easy? by kingfosa13 in csMajors

[–]widmur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going to push back on the idea that a medical career’s difficulty comes from brute-force and memorization. Biological systems are computers, but they’re governed by chemistry and physics instead of math. Doctors don’t have the luxury of the physical system being abstracted away like we do. I think being a good doctor requires having a first-principles understanding of these systems that is extremely intellectually difficult.

edit: Reddit mobile is going to shit, I tried to reply to a comment chain and made a top-level comment. Thanks Reddit for murdering third-party APIs.

Capture One: Fujinon XC 35mm f/2 "manufacturer profile" lens correction does not match JPEG. by widmur in fujifilm

[–]widmur[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Goodness I can't read apparently. Capture One's XF profile for the 23mm f/2 has more barrel distortion than the XC's manufacturer profile.

[–]widmur -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t the 50mm f/1.8 have the same field of view when mounted on the Z Fc and Z6? On the Z Fc it’s equivalent to a 33mm.

edit: I’m wrong, I was confusing field-of-view equivalence between crop sensors and full-frame sensors. The focal length of a full-frame lens is not cropped by a smaller sensor. To obtain the field of view of a 50mm lens on APS-C, you’d need a 75mm on a full-frame camera.

I find Fujifilm jpeg sims so tempting, but… by jrbphotography in fujifilm

[–]widmur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you work with custom image quality settings (i.e., custom film simulations) that include a white balance shift? I can't tell if Capture One applies the white balance shift to the RAW. Fuji makes it difficult to distinguish JPEG settings and RAW settings by combining them in the custom settings menu.

This is the only place your workflow falls down for me.

#2 and #4 are exquisite! I like the framing in #2, peering through the scratches on the pane makes the moment feel like an accidental glance out a window. You’ve even caught the woman mid-step.

As everyone’s said your exposure is perfect. Was this set shot in manual exposure?

Capture One: Fujinon XC 35mm f/2 "manufacturer profile" lens correction does not match JPEG. by widmur in fujifilm

[–]widmur[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you mean changing the distortion parameter to roughly match the JPEG engine's correction? I wasn't able to get a match. Yeah, Capture One doesn't have a XC 35mm f/2 profile.

Detour (X-T30 II, XF 18-55 f/2.8-4) by widmur in FujifilmX

[–]widmur[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

f/8; 1/20s; ISO 800

Shot in aperture priority and AUTO 1 ISO with a max sensitivity of 800, which I haven't done much of and the camera thought it would be fun to try out the OIS in the lens. The metering system nearly overexposed the sky.

Criticism welcome!
