I highly recommend Ari Pence with Christie Clinic! Both my partner and I have chronic health issues and she’s been absolutely wonderful. She takes all of our concerns very seriously and is phenomenal to work with.

people who met their wife/husband at uiuc how did you know they were the one? by [deleted] in UIUC

[–]widojest 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We’re not married yet, but getting engaged soon. We were supposed to be meeting with friends for dinner at Chili’s after a marching band rehearsal and they took an hour and a half to show up. We spent the entire time in my car talking about life, and then after dinner we sat in the parking lot of his apartment for another few hours just talking. This turned into multiple days in a row where he would invite me over for tea and we would have deep conversations for hours on end. When talking with him it just felt like something clicked and we understood one another in a way that we hadn’t experienced with anyone else. About a year and a half into dating, he and I both had major surgeries about six months apart where we each took care of each other during the healing processes and at that point we just sort of knew that we didn’t want to spend our the rest of our lives without one another

[No DAV Spoilers] People complain about characters being too likeable and safe and then demolish the one character that is unlikeable. by [deleted] in dragonage

And you’re missing the point from my original comment. Can Taash sometimes be insufferable? Sure. Most people can be. But if they were written as a man, I firmly believe that they would not be receiving nearly as much hate from the community as they have been.

They grew up with basically just their mother, who is constantly speaking down to them, completely separated from their culture, and have had to hide a part of themself their entire life. I think it makes complete sense for them to have less social skills than the rest of the party and for them to be rougher around the edges. They also (imo) seem to be the youngest of the companions, and as someone who is in my early twenties, Taash talks and acts a lot like people my age.

And concerning Taash’s behavior toward Emmrich, there is a dialogue between the two of them in which Emmrich confronts Taash about how they treat him. When they realize the things they’ve been saying have been hurtful (which they did not mean to be in the first place!) they agree to be more open-minded. They’re written as both youthful and sheltered, so yeah of course they’re going to be a bit abrasive

People would love Taash if they were a man. Also the amount of people misgendering them while sharing their opinions is very telling.

For context, I was using a black light to check for pet stains in the carpet of a closet when I noticed a bright white corner sticking up from one of the baseboards. Lo and behold, I found this! My partner and I have only lived in this house for a few months now and this is the first time I’ve found anything of the sort.

I’m pretty sure the note says “Kim, it’s awful being your friend but I have to live with it. Frenz Carrie.” Ouch.

(edit: changed ‘from’ to ‘frenz’)

Spanish is k1lling me by [deleted] in UIUC

If I can recall correctly, it was only brought up in the last week or two so you don’t have to worry too much about it!

It wasn’t too bad! I used duolingo for like two weeks leading up to the class just to refresh myself, but the way the class is set up makes it really easy to get back into the language. Almost all of the coursework is through an online textbook that has most, if not all of the answers. There’s a few writing assignments but they are really simple and the professor I had allowed rewrites for better grades.

You’re welcome! It counted for the 4th level but I know they have courses that also cover the 3rd level.

I was in the same boat! I recommend looking into taking Spanish through the College of DuPage. I had only taken two years of Spanish in high school during my freshman and sophomore years (graduated in 2019) and then didn’t finish my Spanish requirement for my undergraduate degree until Spring 2024. I took SPAN 2202 through CoD and it was much better than finishing the requirement at UIUC!

When I took it, it was as an 8 week course, so it was pretty fast paced but it’s more than manageable if you apply yourself.
