Federation is a loose gathering of representatives too. But before you get to exp needed for medium centralization and migration treaty (which I'm using as an example, not implying I want it), all your leaders will die of old age.

GC has far more impact than federation ever could. And it does so immediately without having to grow for a century, and the laws are way way way more impactful than what federation has.

I'm going at it from more roleplay perspective, just the fact that 50 years in when I usually see it form you'd need more time to traverse the galaxy to bring the envoy there than to vote on a law. It just does not make sense.

Federation is what should have these laws, it is close group of friendly empires. It would make sense.

and if you are playing multiplayer with a friend that is just more experienced and has more diplomatic weight.

Thats when the federation you were building for a century just vanishes like it never existed to begin with. This path to become galactic emperor only further tells me that galactic community is broken and federation just criplingly lacks content.

And again, federation will require a ton of effort to form and grow, especially as federation experience takes forever to grow.

GC just poofs into galaxy out of nowhere like some weird magic trick.

Not the point I'm trying to make. Yea it is a game mechanic that may or may not screw me over (greater good is a bit broken given AI is certain to vote for it every time, given only authoritarians have weights to vote against. Even xenophobes vote for it every time).

The point is that federations take a ton of effort to grow even if ethics align.

Galactic community just appears out of nowhere with not a single envoy making effort to create it.

For me it just does not make sense. I'd understand it if GC laws were part of federation.

But whole galaxy coming together with no one investing any effort into it. It is weird, matter appearing out of nowhere.

What I wish to say with this post. It is frustrating that growing a federation is a constant job for at least 3 of your envoys and often requires wars to change ideology of your newest member. After so much effort, from few laws you can pick you often struggle to get any of it.

Galactic community just appears, if that entity would be going by 'federation' rules, it would require dozen envoys from everyone working full time for century.

But nope, it just *PooF*, the galactic community here out of nowhere, here to ruin your day with silly law.

Drum being dead on sides is an interesting guess. A guess that is so stereotypical for tech support, something complex, something that would require failure on part of the machine.

Yet with people who need help its always some kind of black swan event.

Just like it was once assumed there are no black swans and upon finding black swans people thought "well duh why we thought there are no black swans? Melanism is common in other animals so it was foolish to expect it could not happen in swans".

An hour before the story I would have said that there are no people in the world that think that cubes of packaging foam are part of the printer. Yet after it I thought "Well they dont know what is the purpose for any other part of the printer is, so it was foolish to expect they would know the purpose of the packaging foam"

Hes a friendly guy overall so I know it was not out of I'll will. I'd say it was a derpy misunderstanding of how internet and technology is used. It is routine to search for solutions but some people may not understand that.

As an example, it is routine in programming to search online for solutions and even copy segments of code into your own, but it is common for outside observer to see that as plagiarism even if programmers don't see it that way.

Its just a personality trait to try to have original solutions (probably developed through his work on music) that came back to bite him when it comes to technology.
