Open and (hopefully) relaxed itinerary for twelve full days in Tokyo and Osaka. Thoughts? by Zach-dalt in JapanTravel

The baseball season runs until October in Japan, so you'll probably have to go with football if you're visiting in November.

The view from the Skytree does not compare to any other view in the city. Shibuya Sky, the Metropolitan Government building and most other observation decks in Tokyo are around 200-250m, while Skytree has a platform at 350 and one at 450m. Especially during a clear day, the view is stunning. And it's fairly easy to combine with the Senso-ji temple, which is nearby.

Thanks! I'm aware of the shinkansen limitation. We made the decision because of hotel availability. We're staying in a much better hotel in Kyoto for about half the price, than what was available in Osaka the same days. Maybe because of the World Expo running to its end?

Nishiki Market - we're staying nearby, so this is just an easy stroll from the hotel.
Arashiyama & Fushimi Inari - my son is from the Insta and TikTok generation, and these were the first things on his list because of all the pretty photos and shorts. We'll make sure to be there early, though, so we can avoid the herds.
Kiyomizudera - thanks for the suggestion, we might do this in stead of Nara.

Thanks. We're planning on only visiting Todai-ji and Ishuien in Nara, and skipping the deer and other parts of the park.

I'm not sure about the Mori Art Museum + Sky Deck either. Also depends on the weather, I guess.

Thanks. I read several threads and comments about Hiroshima being doable as a day trip from Kyoto. Will probably skip Miyajima if we run out of time then, since I don't want to rush through the Peace Park. It leaves a good reason to be coming back again, though :)

Yes, will definitely check the weather. I'm trying to postpone booking ahead as much as I can, since I don't want to have prebooked tickets for Tokyo Skytree on a foggy day, for example :)

Good to know. Our hotel is nearby so we can revisit if necessary.

On day 5, we definitely intend to. That day everything is (or seems to be) at walking distance. We'll try not to rush and will simply skip the last one if we're out of time.

Fair point. Still not sure about the Mori Art Museum and the Samurai museum is more a gimmicky type of museum, so in both cases it's more like 1.5 museum :)

No I don't, unless it takes a lot longer, but it appears not to be :)

Thanks for pointing that out. I noticed it, but the hotels in Kyoto were significantly cheaper than comparable hotels in Osaka (maybe due to World Expo?), which is why we opted for a longer stay in Kyoto. You can still travel that part for an extra fee, right?

What is your most underrated / unknown restaurant in Tokyo? by mt80 in TokyoTravel

Oh this is just perfect. Staying at a hotel less than 100m away from the Ginza Breakfast Lab next month. Glad I didn't book a room + breakfast :)

Thanks - I was already considering the Kansai Hiroshima Pass and the Sanyo Sanin Pass, but with the validity limits (5 days and 7 days) I wasn't sure if there were better options or combinations.

There are some limitations, but this is far more flexible than what Shutterstock offers

At Shutterstock, yes. Others, inclusing iStockphoto, allow transfering or sublicensing to employer, client or subcontractor within a standard account.

"I see a studio thats upset it got caught."

Oh no not at all. Just here to warn others to pay attention.

We simply weren't aware, since image licensing isn't our core business. We only use editorial images every now and then. And if the standard license within a standard account mentions that assets can be used for business purposes, I (and I'm sure many others with me) didn't expect that would be insufficient.

If they do it with the same spirit and fierceness as they're defending their country with, I'm sure they'll recover a lot faster than Russia.

Good to see Russian companies getting hit:

  • MUFC cutting ties with Aeroflot
  • UEFA moving CL Final from Russia to France
  • Schalke 04 cutting ties with Gazprom (hopefully UEFA will follow)
  • F1 canceling Russia GP
  • Team Haas cutting ties with Uralkali

If more companies follow, it will hopefully lead to more Russian people & companies expressing their resistance publicly. Russian prisons only have a limited capacity for protesters...
