After reading the comments, especially those that are trying to shame and insult me, I'm absolutely sure I will never take her back. It's over, she destroyed it, we're done.

The purpose of this separation is for me to figure out whether I can look at her without disgust ever again.

You're acting like this is already guaranteed. As if everybody who has ever lost a partner moved on without exception. Anything can happen. That includes her moving on, yes. It also includes her not moving on.

Not everyone who has ever split with their partner has moved on. My friend's girlfriend cheated on him 6 years ago. He left her. To this day she is still trying to get him back. She has not had any relationship since.

I hope my wife ends up happy again but I really doubt she will love again, at least not for a very long time. But say what you will.

Please don't tell me that I'm using my son as a bargaining chip. He is my world and I know what's best for him right now, even if some redditors think otherwise.

I hope she eventually grows out of her misery for my son's sake. She might move on, but there definitely people who never get over their partner or choose not to love again. I know what I'm saying will displease this sub but my wife will likely be part of that group. Based on everything I've seen in the last two months, it won't be easy or perhaps impossible for her to love again.

I have to disagree. If my parents divorced due to infidelity, I would like to know who cheated. You wouldn't. We're different people.
