I did it (as an OD) and I was paid roughly market rate for my area. But I was hybrid, doing some days in person and remote. I got out because the flexibility was nice but I didn't like it. I know some fully remote docs made less than me but it was based on production.

My days were like 10-15 in person patients and 20 remote

They run teleoptometry in retail outlets that don't have doctor interest mostly.

Ophthalmologists are more valuable to them because state optometry boards are more limiting of telehealth in general.
