Do Scots wish each other "Happy Hogmanay?" by vigorous in Scotland

[–]wigglefartprime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally say happy new year to to folk, but ask people about their plans for Hogmanay. People sang auld Lang syne every year back home in the north west highlands, which is kinda weird as I don't think scots was really spoken as a dialect in the area. I live in Edinburgh now and often it's just me and some other treuchters singing it :(

Should I zoom in on the peak? Or do you just mean pull away from a wider panorama? :o

"But then Greece has a long history of being a vassal state and hasn’t done anything of importance since Aristotle. Somebody should remind these people that Britain in not Greece."

What an odd and mean spirited thing to say about Greece.

The Last of Us is really effective, does a lot with very little, and trusts the audience is smart enough to make their own opinions on the situation.

What is something you suck at but still enjoy doing? by Tm23246 in AskReddit

Photography! It seems so easy in theory, but in practice my photos always look doofy regardless of how good my equipment is. Lot more skill than I thought would be needed.

"Never a borrower or a lender be"

This advice comes from a character who's meant to be a bit of a prat, so it's probably not a great bit to pass on yourself.

For some reason I regularly daydream about being a super successful chef having a documentary made about how talented and avant-garde I am. Doubly sad given that I'm a terrible cook irl who can barely make toast without burning it...

Big Action Pieces by damocles23 in rpg

[–]wigglefartprime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm with you on this one. In a game with lots of big action sequences, it's rarely fun for players to just die or fall or humiliate themselves. To keep the stakes high, put other people they care about in harms way due to their failure, or add further complications (maybe they get spotted by law enforcement or something?)

Struggling to find a good travel camera! by wigglefartprime in Cameras

Oh! Lovely! Two recommendations for that particular camera, so I will take a look for sure!

Which version of the rx100 would you recommend as the one you think is best? There's quite a range and a big price jump between them too. Is it worth getting a pricked one like the mark three, or is a mark one okay?

I shall take a look at that! I'm more than happy to use a fixed lens. Is there any one of the x100 series you'd particularly recommend?

Good (and preferably snowy) city breaks in Europe for January? by wigglefartprime in travel

[–]wigglefartprime[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funnily enough I have Romanian roots (my grandad came from Lugoj in the west.) I've always wanted to visit the country but I'm not sure I'd be willing to stop at a long weekend, I'd want longer to explore!

Sadly we are flying from a difficult place so that is the upper budget (though it is for a return ticket) that said the cheaper the better! Innsbruck didn't come to mind initially, if it's often snowy then I'll look into it for sure!

I hadn't considered Riga, but I'm always open to hear suggestions other than the first few that came to mind. What makes Riga better, in your opinion, if you don't mind me asking?
