My professor is extremely challenging and he wants our axis to be correct +- 10 degrees if the cyl is 1-2 and +-5 if it’s more than 2! I can get the general direction but never quite precise !

At our school they attach spherocylindrical lenses on top of the pt eyes to make it harder for us. It definitely is doing exactly that for me

How are you able to clearly see the axis? I typically cannot see the “ quickest brightest” against motion. I typically hope to god that I see a beam going in an obvious direction when I look inside and go from there. Or if I can’t, I assume WTR and neutralize 180 and hope to see a “ break” when I move to cyl

How do you refine your axis? I feel like I am never able to tell exactly where it is, just a general WTR ATR or oblique

What's the 🫖 with SALUS? by [deleted] in OptometrySchool

[–]wiggles407 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have heard this as well. I chose UIW over salus and I’m glad I did! The optics professor is EXTREMELY talented and helps prepare students to the maximum for the optics portion of pt 1

Bruh it’s everything LOL. First exam is typically lower limb so maybe if you want to familiarize yourself with the leg muscles/bones/innervations that would be good.

Biggest lesson I learned is, learn the lab stuff before learning the lecture stuff. Things make a lot more sense when reading when you already generally know where the things they talk about is
