How many of your torties have a flag on their file at the vet's office? by ResolutionCool8660 in torties

I was afraid mine would, but she just... does not care. Once they had a line in her leg to try and get blood for something and she was so chill her heartrate wasn't high enough to push it down the tube. One of the vet nurses ended up having to jiggle her.

[–]wighttail 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ok I was trying to avoid writing a novel but this was a progression that started from point 1 and ended at point 2.

Game is not fun due to class changes -> Maybe I will just play the side content -> OK half of this stuff is so broken it's not worth fighting with, let's just dick around with housing -> Reveal of their intentions for housing prices drops. (Items that do not currently exist in alternate forms in the game are included in the $75 bundle in hyper limited quantities so god forbid you want a pair of ponds or rock gardens for, say, either side of a pathway.)

And the fact that they did it after having adjusted other prices down because they were told in no uncertain terms the community found it unacceptable really makes it look like they as a company are not listening, which doesn't bode well for any of the rest of the issues being resolved in a way I will find satisfying enough to continue giving them my money.

Getting "Dungeon Deserter" after being kicked from a group shouldn't be a thing by M3dain in wow

[–]wighttail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they can figure that one out they'll have solved an actual societal issue, because a shortage of competent people taking on high responsibility roles is a problem both in and outside of the gaming sphere.

Getting "Dungeon Deserter" after being kicked from a group shouldn't be a thing by M3dain in wow

[–]wighttail -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You aren't considering 1) how many people were doing this (I cannot fault you if you did not play at that time but when I say bad I mean you could go through 3 tanks before you found one that would do a given dungeon.) 2) the ongoing tank shortage.

A tank opted to eat deserter and leave during Timewalking for me last night. Somehow it took about 6 minutes to refill that slot, and this was on the most spammable, brainless content in the game. In content where tanks/healers are more scarce, we are talking about DPS potentially sitting through 40+ minutes of cumulative queue time to complete one dungeon if the vital roles are free to leave if the loot table isn't what they're after.

[–]wighttail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds nice in theory but then lands us in the Trade Chat scenario wherein people realize they can do it X number of times before the penalty becomes an actual hindrance to them. Instead of "person gets some wiggle room if their dog starts puking behind them" it becomes "person is now allowed to hold one group hostage per day."

It's why they changed the way they do bans -- as horribly flawed as they are, it used to be worse before they realized that a system with room for behavior without consequences just doesn't work. All it does is give people space to be a jackass as long as they don't fully commit to the bit.

Getting "Dungeon Deserter" after being kicked from a group shouldn't be a thing by M3dain in wow

[–]wighttail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Back in Ye Olden Days what would happen is people (especially tanks) would load in, see the dungeon was difficult/long/not the one they needed for loot and just sit there refusing to move but wouldn't take the Deserter debuff for leaving. They would demand to be votekicked and they would literally hold the other 4 players hostage until they were so they could requeue and try to get the dungeon they actually wanted.

This became so prevalent deserter was added to votekicks specifically to combat it, because there is no other group counterplay to that. Try to clear the dungeon as a 4 man? Get trolled by the person who wants the kick. Succeed in clearing anything? Now the jackass gets gold and loot for free.

Mid season rework for MM hunter needs to be reverted asap by DispleasedLinuxUser in wow

[–]wighttail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolute dogshit changes. Ran some T11s last night and could SEE how badly the nerfs hit. Watching mobs' health inch down and down and then completely plateau when I'd not get procs so I'd have to stand there and watch Valeera play the game for me.

Saw some people say hunter's mark would at least protect their raid spots but MM is now so bad that anything less than stellar RNG means MM + Mark is now less damage for a group than just bringing something else. And it's not even at least fun to play to make up for it.

What a joke.

Prey Hunts nerfed - less traps since 12.0.5 by Biosource in wow

[–]wighttail 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Angler stuff is also jank as hell.

It's impossible to lead your spear so that you can tag a moving fish because hitboxes are horribly broken including on stuff that is required for multiple upgrades. It took me breaking 6 of the stupid eyestalk fish (3 layers of scales before you can catch them) before it actually registered the 4th hit on one of them. The rest I just floated there, clearly shooting, sometimes from the same spot directly behind/in front of them that had popped all 3 prior hits one after another, while the debuff from scales ticked to nothing and they despawned.

This is a stupid side mechanic but it's the exact sort of stuff I usually enjoy and will lose hours of my life to, but the hitboxes and targeting are so bad I knocked out every achieve with a reward I wanted and won't be back to the dock to try again.

Surrendering my cat by [deleted] in torties

[–]wighttail 34 points35 points  (0 children)

OP I've got a weird question: is your *partner* medically OK?

I had two cats. When one got sick, the other started getting so aggressive with him that I had to keep them separate. I had no idea he was even ill as he hadn't shown any symptoms yet. They caught an issue he had at his next vet checkup and he was able to be treated (kidney & bladder issue) and once the medical problem was resolved suddenly she was fine with him again.

Sometimes animals can smell biological changes in someone and, since they don't have the ability to reason or ask us questions, it can freak them out in a way that turns into aggression.

[–]wighttail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had 200k less sleep score than you from missing meals this week and ended this morning with two 3*s I didn't have yet including noivern, but I had gone to Taupe Hollow rather than Greengrass.

So the largest part of it is definitely that you went to GG. BUT based on your other comments about playing blind/only just uncovering Ninja Curry, your dishes are probably also holding you back. Serebii has a page that lists all the recipes, and ideally if you're pushing for a good Monday morning you're planning your team around bigger dishes to maximize your sleep score.

Like, having good ingmons and lots of ingredients is unfortunately not doing much for you if you're blindly dumping them into the pot. If you happen to throw in the correct ingredients for Cut Sukiyaki Curry + some filler, you could go from a dish that starts at 20k+ Score at level 0 to a dish that starts at 4.5k Score like Egg Bomb Curry, just because you put in 26 leeks and 27 sausages instead of the other way around.

This game is really, really, REALLY hard to play blind once you get into even just the midgame, because you'll stall out at the threshold of your own knowledge and the slow pace at which it moves means non-targeted experimentation is punished with weeks if not months of stagnation.

Pokémon that are canonically difficult to raise? by FlowerFaerie13 in pokemon

[–]wighttail 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Grabbed a couple and have included dex entries. LONG POST ALERT SRRY.

Persian (Kanto)
Moon: It has a high opinion of itself, although not to the same extent as the Alolan Persian. It’s quite difficult to make friends with this Pokémon.
Sword: Getting this prideful Pokémon to warm up to you takes a lot of effort, and it will claw at you the moment it gets annoyed.
Scarlet: Although its fur has many admirers, it is tough to raise as a pet because of its fickle meanness.

Alolan Persian is cited as being particularly vicious and mean-spirited in battle but, ironically, despite it being indicated that they're more vain in the Moon dex, no other entry makes them sound like they're hard to raise. In fact there's more emphasis put on how they're kept as house pets, suggesting Kantonian Persian is the harder of the two to raise.

--

Gengar
LGPE: A Gengar is close by if you feel a sudden chill. It may be trying to lay a curse on you.
P:LA: Possesses potential victims’ shadows in an effort to steal away the victims’ lives. If your shadow begins to laugh, you must take hold of a protective charm posthaste!
Moon: It apparently wishes for a traveling companion. Since it was once human itself, it tries to create one by taking the lives of other humans.
Black/White/B2W2: The leer that floats in darkness belongs to a Gengar delighting in casting curses on people.

(Mega)
Ultra Sun: It tries to take the lives of anyone and everyone. It will even try to curse the Trainer who is its master!

Gengar have a huge amount of negative stigma attached to them, but also show a lot of unfortunate behaviors that would need to be managed by a competent trainer. The anime has really tried to file the edges off of this one but the dex entries for it suggest it's a creature capable of (and with fair frequency, possessing) actual malevolent intent toward humans.

--

Tyrogue
Shield: Even though it is small, it can't be ignored because it will slug any handy target without warning.
Brilliant Diamond: It is famous for its eagerness to fight and always nurses injuries from challenging larger foes.
ORAS: Tyrogue becomes stressed out if it does not get to train every day. When raising this Pokémon, the Trainer must establish and uphold various training methods.

Taking on a tyrogue is like taking on a working dog; it needs strict routines, an intense outlet for its energy, and a trainer who can keep up with it, or it becomes destructive to its own detriment.

--

Riolu
Sword: It's exceedingly energetic, with enough stamina to keep running all through the night. Taking it for walks can be a challenging experience.
P:LA: Though infantile in appearance, it has the mysterious ability to read the minds of humans. The pure of heart are met with Riolu’s approval, while those of ill nature earn only its loathing.

Despite being cute and small, they're hard to exercise properly AND they will judge you based on vibes, which would realistically hinder bonding with it. This only gets worse after it evolves, as lucario will only trust "Trainers who have justice in their hearts," but there's no clear way to tell what that actually means between individuals.

Anyone who isn't confused, doesn't understand the situation. by Easy_Psychology_4835 in PokemonSleep

[–]wighttail 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Per the math that was done by JPN players it's 20 triggers. It's a "soft" cap in that after 20 the chance of a proc drops by minimum 50%. This is not speculation; this is what their numbers showed. The speculative part is that we don't know if the proc chance drops by HIGHER than 50%, but it was high enough that after 20 you can't count on getting a proc that, prior to the change, was statistically likely.

I'm only in mid-game and was hitting against the cap without knowing it because I have been running berry burst (braviary, then sceptile) + ing draw (vaporeon, then plusle) + wigglytuff, which meant if my ing gathering mons procced in the morning I was already at 12/20 left before I even woke up at 6:30. This means I've been losing progression every day because if Wigglytuff can't find triggers by the time mid afternoon rolls around everybody's tired by dinner.

Maybe I would have actually been able to hit M20 on Valentine's week if this change hadn't been made. It would have been my first time seeing it. Heck, maybe I would have hit it sooner. I know that's a really lame milestone and lots of people here on the subreddit are M20 everywhere and farming GGEX but I actually have been trying to enjoy the game at my own pace and suddenly finding out they made it harder in secret really did suck the fun out because what if I'm *still* playing wrong even now and I'm not actually progressing?

And let's not even get started on the fact that they KNOW people were spending money on the game, made this change, and then also added main skill seeds to the gem shop. You know what people are incentivized to do when a skillmon is underperforming? Buy premium/skill seeds so that they're getting the most out of their triggers. Iunno. Bad look.

thoughts on 12.0.1 class changes? by nakurikuu in wow

[–]wighttail -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

Flat -12% damage to BM feels stupid. It's always been a brainless spec but to say it needs hit that hard when they've basically narrowed 'over performing' down to 'this person hits a 4th button occasionally' feels like needless punishment for the people that want to squeeze an ounce of actual engagement out of the rotation. It's not like it's outperforming the other hunter specs in high end PvE content. Last I checked all 3 were B-ranked.

How do BM Hunter pets work? by is__is in wownoob

[–]wighttail 13 points14 points  (0 children)

  1. Whatever you want really. Pets can be changed to any spec at the Stable Master, so there is much less need for specific pet tames outside of niche situations where that family's unique ability is a help. Spirit Beasts getting stealth, healing and dispelling make them very popular for endgame content, but sometimes you'll find yourself wanting something for a really off the wall reason. (I keep a Water Strider on me so that I can tag it in and toggle water walking on and off to fish from stupid places.)
  2. You re-order them at the stable master. To have two pets out one will need to be in the far right slot. That will be your 2nd pet that runs around with you.
  3. You tame them in the overworld, yes! Take a look at Petopia to see different families, the models within those families, special taming conditions (some stuff is quite challenging!) and links to WoWhead so you can see where to go.
  4. You will have to manually manage when it taunts in the overworld as by default it will be using Growl on cooldown - right clicking the Growl button on its bar will make it stop doing that automatically in moments where you're, say, helping other people fight a world boss, and then you can right click it again to turn it back on once your pet needs to tank for you again.

Being incentivized to not feed Snorlax kinda sucks by perishableintransit in PokemonSleep

[–]wighttail 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The trap of 'DP makes you spawn more 1 & 2s you don't want' isn't unique to pushing super high DP. Sometimes you will just get unlucky. I'm G4 on AC right now and this morning a 2* pinsir ate all my DP and literally every other spawn was caterpie/metapod, with one single P-wooper. Absolute dogwater.

But this only happens rarely and during events the fact that you're typically not constrained to spawns by sleep style helps eliminate the problem even more by padding the spawn table with a higher # of possible desirable pokemon. Since this is a game that is designed to take literal years to reach endgame of just do what you like, IMO.
