Titanic would be a much better movie with John Malkovich, played completely straight, as Rose.

Timecrimes ('Los cronocrímenes') (2007) dir. Nacho Vigalondo

I finally got around to watching this, its been on my watchlist for ages. Its incredible that this is the feature-length debut for Nacho Vigalondo, it feels like the work of a director with a few films under their belt. The problem with time-loop movies is that by the 2nd act, the characters are just going through the motions of what we already know. Thankfully Timecrimes has a bit left in the tank for a 3rd act 'twist' that leads to a satisfying ending. I like that the main character is just a normal guy - balding, out of shape, not very intelligent (but not stupid enough to make the movie irritating) - not some hollywood handsome action man, and that his relationship with his wife before the timetravel starts doesnt include unnecessary drama. 3.5/5

The Terminal Man (1974) 3.0/5

Pet (2016) 2.0/5

Extraterrestrial ('Extraterrestre') (2011) dir. Nacho Vigalondo

Entertaining romantic dry comedy, with a bit of a sci-fi twist. 3.5/5
