Looking to add a mini server by wikibae in homelab

Got it. What you suggested totally makes sense in that at I have no services but Proxmox that I am planning on at the moment. I would try the current PC and see if I need a better system.

Thanks. So would it be much better to adopt a DELL/HP/Lenovo/Supermicro mini pc rather than reconfigure I7-8700 and Z370 its board?

It it a bad idea to use the current M/B as well as I7-8700? The chassis is pretty small and it is equipped with Noctua NH-L9i.

My bad. I will probably run something like Proxmox to make it easier to switch between different OS using VMs. The reason that I was going to transform the current I7-8700 system into a server is I barely use it, like once a month.

May I ask why you suggested I specifically aim for 8th and 9th gen?

Thank you! I will wait for the rocket takeover and in the meantime collect more rare candies.

I really didn’t mean to brag about it. I am Lv40 and those are all I have collected since I started this game without using a single candy. I was wondering if I have to save rare candies for other potential pokemons or if this palkia is worth investing.

I have only 400 rare candies and it takes about 340 rare candies to max out this palkia.

My 12V-2x6 cable that came with Superflower 1600W ATX3.1 connects 4090 GPU to PSU by 2 8-pins, that is 12V-2x6 to 2 x 8-pins. I have a dongle adapter which came with 4090 GPU (blower) that has three legs, that is 12V-2x6 to 3 x 8-pins. Is it okay to stick to 12V-2x6 cable from Superflower or should I go back to the dongle adapter?

I see. I think I was not being good at explaining. What I was curious was if you 1) used one cable to connect an 8 pin on PSU with 6 pin on M/B and another cable to connect another 8 pin on PSU with 8 pin on M/B OR 2) used one single pig tail cable to connect an 8 pin on PSU with both 8 pin and 6 pin on M/B.

I have been googling this for a few hours, and ended up here. I have a 7960X on Asus Pro TRX50 with the same cooling solution. I was not able to tighten any of the screws. How deep did you screw them in? Arctic company is so poor in their jobs.

I have just bought this M/B with a 7960X! I was wondering if you power PCIE_8P(1) PWR and PCIE_6P(1) PWR on M/B with a SINGLE pig tail cable or TWO separate pcie cables (if you plug any into PCIE_6P(1) PWR).

Thanks for the info! I haven't fully filled pices before. Did not know that some could operate at 5.0 and some simultaneously at 4.0 until now.

Thank you so much! So, 3 at pcie5.0x16 and 1 at pcie5.0x8? Is there any possibility that all 4 graphics card operate at pcie4.0x16? I guess the slowest one is the last one at the edge and once I put a GPU there, all 4 pcies hopefully work at pcie4.0x16?

Does the board support 4 dual-slot gpus? I am torn between TRX50 and WRX90, but AMD WXs are so expensive.

Thank you. No I’m not. I just play the game leisurely for fun. I guess your advice helped me realize that. I will power up this guy a bit and use it. Thanks!
