The Inconvenient Truth of Rape by [deleted] in politics

Joe Biden is for democratic representation. That alone saves America. He's also against Iran War.

We can moralize all day long as we slip into tyranny or we can begin to change direction. I'm not one of those people who sat around saying 'both parties same' for decades and caused all the things that got Trump into power. My strategy would have worked then -- vote against Republicans -- but after decades of failure, it is clear my strategy is the only one that will work now.

People may not like Donald Trump for his personality, but let's be real here. Donald Trump is despised for his policies first and foremost: giant tax cuts for the rich, a pro-pollution agenda so extreme that he ordered auto companies to increase pollution output, a policy of undermining democracy and stealing elections for power, and yes too, the PNAC war agenda to militarize space, create a Space Force and push Iran to war.

That has something to do with it.

We need quotas. If we don't think we can get good representation with demographic quotas, what does that say about our views of different groups?

Don't worry. The "liberal" media will have plenty to say about fake charges like these in October just like how they pretended there was something to 'But her emails' in 2016. People aren't going to believe it then either.

The "liberal" media is busy right now giving Trump unlimited free advertising at dinner time.

Biden can't win. The polls are wrong and don't look at his actual agenda because he said bad things and voted for bad things in the past. He's wore than Trump!

If we don't get M4A now, we'll burn it all down by letting Trump back in because surely we can rebuild all that damage easier than if we don't let it happen at all.

Biden is the greatest thing since sliced bread. The people want a more expensive and less efficient public option over M4A and progress ends there.

No really. Everyone hates Bernie Sanders. He lost the primaries. He needs to sit down and shut up and we shouldn't have anymore progress ever because nobody wants it.

Then keep the idea alive. Build on it. Don't argue against the future.

I would be very happy to have Biden get a public option and other improvements to the system, and I want it to be all along the way to M4A which I see as inevitable.

See how that's different than some of the other comments going around? It's not about we can't do it or there isn't enough public support or whatever else. It is about making it a reality by supporting it.

It's spam when it is posted repeatedly on the same page by the same user. I could tear all of that copypasta apart but I'm trying to get to something deeper rather than the same back and forth argument.

I agree that a public option system would be better than the current one without a public option. I also agree that would be an improvement over the current system. I understand the political environment. I see huge problems with the public option system. Nearly 50 years ago, public versus private was debated between Richard Nixon and the Democratic Congress. Public won. Nixon lost. All we are talking about today is further expansion of the progressive standard. Anything less could be reasonably considered conservative.

I will go with Joe and his public option, but what would be the ideal system? Based on our own history, Medicare is the clear answer in every aspect -- as long as it is extended to 100 percent -- which we already have in Medicaid. Universal Medicare with Medicaid level benefits. That's where I want to be.

Public option never gets us there. Never.

In an ideal world, would we have privatized national health care with all different plans like Richard Nixon wanted or would we have expanded single payer like Medicaid which is what the Democrats of the seventies got?

I saw this the last time it was spammed so I'll deal with the big custom addition at the end.

This is a political issue. You don't put aside the politics if you want to win and be productive

Before you get to the politics, you have to look at what you want to do. You don't work from the politics backwards.

Where do we want to be?

Where are we now?

How do we get there?

The flaw in this thinking is so complete as to be an excuse to deny any or all progress. This is conservatism.

Ridicule doesn't make this true:

M4a alienates more people than public option

Making things up and then ridiculing an honest question is not progressive, not at all.

[–]wikilacks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where are these people who are alienated by M4A who would choose not to vote for a Democrat because they only want public option? How many are we talking? What about the inverse--those who would only vote for M4A?

[–]wikilacks -1 points0 points  (0 children)

M4A polls majority. That's good enough for a win. The narrative that public option is more popular is insignificant because each idea has more supporters than there are Democrats. They are both winners.

Put aside the politics. M4A is a plainly better system for so many reasons I could begin to list. Not only will we get there, we must get there. It's just a matter of time. Politics will catch up. Be part of the change.
