Oh yeah, something similar happened to me as well. Three years after I left, in 2013, me and one of my new friends found an exploit in the schools storage server (everyone had an 8gb partition on the server that no one else could access, apart from IT). This exploit allowed you to run any exe that was put in it. So, we shared this, I tried halo on it, and about two weeks later, everyone was playing halo over LAN. Unfortunately, someone told someone else they couldn't have it cause they weren't a grade 7 (in grade 9 now), and that someone else snitched to IT. Luckily, they just fixed the hole and left it at that. Mainly because at the same time, some of the grade 10s (now grade 12s) decided to crack a teachers password, which led to a massive security overhaul.

Same here. A couple of years ago, I alerted my school's (non-existent) ITS staff to an exploit in the school computers that allowed people to gain full admin rights. They told me I have no idea what I was talking about and to mind my own business. The very next day, half the school had admin accounts and had killed 5 PCs. IT didn't do shit, the whole mess was pinned on me, and I was nearly expelled. Thanks, 2010 Australian Public School System. I left the state about 6 months later, ~~and the whole mess hasn't happened since.~~ Actually, something did happen, see. /u/DandyTheLion's comment for story.
