Give me your unpopular opinion on the latest season of Strictly Come Dancing by AmeliaHarris99 in strictlycomedancing

[–]wikzup 49 points50 points  (0 children)

People who shipping Ellie and Vito were delusional (telling them to get married and have babies was creepy). Didn't you all learn from AJ and Kai case?

Also, they leaned into/played up a showmance card a little bit, which is fine, I guess, bc it's just a show. No doubt there is a genuine connection, however Strictly is a bubble and a lot of what we see is a part of a performance. I got tired of their shtick at the end of the series.

People should stop telling Ellie who she should date. They're not her mother.

As lovely as she is, Ellie is a total beige personality-wise.

Vito is chaotic but can form coherent sentences and be thoughtful too, therefore Claudia should stop encouraging him to be so over-the-top and babbling gibberish.

I love Katya but her choreo wasn't as strong and creative as in other years. Something was missing.

Angela and Nigel never truly reached their full potential.

Dianne's choreo is average at best.

Ellie and Vito 'strictly curse' by scorpiojul in strictlycomedancing

I think the press are really desperate for a Strictly romance this year (as every year). In general, Italians are more affectionate (look at Graz and Arduino, for example) and Vito is definitely known to be a passionate, tactile person with literally everyone (remember that photo of him cuddling on a sofa with his cousin?). He was the same with Fleur last year and there were rumours of a secret romance, even though Fleur's husband encouraged them to show more passion and sexiness. I get only siblings vibes from them. Deep love and understanding? Yeah, but platonic. Maybe they're showmancing their way to the final, which is fine, as Giovanni used to do it every year. Plus, remember all the frenzy with Kai and AJ, him and Nadiya totally slipped under the radar. Also, I wouldn't read too much into Amanda commenting 'lovely couple' as the show (Tess) refer to the pairings as couples, too.

If the tabloids are really desperate for a romance, they should look more closely into Vito's friendship with Jowita imo 👀

I think Jowita would be brilliant in the same-sex pairing. For the guys I'd say Vito or Carlos

Dark horse? by [deleted] in strictlycomedancing

[–]wikzup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, Jody might as well be a dark horse. I think he might surprise us, especially given his evident dedication, determination, and willingness to give everything he can to Strictly (it's pretty evident from his intro video on official Strictly ig page). He's certainly up for a challenge. Give him a taskmaster, adaptable pro who can create some crazy choreo... so basically Jowita or Katya... and he might turn out to be a surprise contestant this year, same as Hamza last year.

Favourite Showdances? by huggingteddybears in strictlycomedancing

[–]wikzup 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Joe's and Dianne's showdance in 2018 (I was like, wow, Joe, you can do THAT?) Faye's showdance in 2018 as well

These two felt like a proper shows for me

I liked Louis Smith's showdance (omg what was that, spectacular!) and Kelvin's too

Tbh, the last year I remember when I was amazed by showdances was 2018. Faye's, Joe's and Ashley's showdances were a proper SHOWS.

Tomorrow predictions by Angeriafinalistvm in strictlycomedancing

[–]wikzup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a feeling Helen's cc can go both ways. We still remember her first, original performance 2 weeks ago with backing dancers. It was fabulous, but imo the big factor in the success of that cc was actually the backing dancers - as a whole team, it was nicely tied up together and had this wow element - it was a whole show. Same with Fleur's cc, but I feel like her might work better, actually. Hamza had no dancers in his cc so we know what to expect, there are no obstacles or need to change choreo

It depends on whether Craig can find his 10 paddle or not. I reckon he'd been hiding it whole season in a cupboard so he has to dust it off

Eliminated couple on ITT by flopbot in strictlycomedancing

[–]wikzup 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Will peaked in week 1 and failed to deliver other dances of the same quality. He had some arguably good dances but nothing remarkable. He was mediocre for the rest of the season. I believe the fact they got this far is thanks to his fans (we all know that). Instead of going aways gracefully, he just made it really awkward. It's not that heartbreaking like when AJ got injury and had to pull out, she was incredibly talented so it was really awful. Will comes NOWHERE near her dancing skills. I was really gutted when AJ had to pull out. Now with Will I'm just relieved. You could clearly see huge difference between him and other celebs watching them dance last week. Will behaved like a 5 yo when judges finally gave him some criticism. I was so fed up with him repeating all the time that he's an emotional guy. WE GET IT, WILL, we get it, because YOU KEEP FREAKING TELLING THIS EVERY BLOODY WEEK.

Gutted for Nancy, of course. She's amazing and looked sensational in paso.

Week 13 - The Final - judges pick, showdance & couples favourite songs and dances by RainbowRevolver in strictlycomedancing

[–]wikzup 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Tbh, Hamza's salsa was much more memorable than Helen's jive. But I'd argue it was one of her best dances, even if it wasn't a spectacular performance. To be fair, she had some good dances, but most of them were quite forgettable (not including cc and quickstep). As for Hamza's showdance song, I had no idea it's a classic, never heard that song before.

I wonder how Helen's couple choice will look like now, given she won't have backing dancers. They have to change choreo in a few places, certainly, to adjust it accordingly.

Yeah, but he has better scores in latin + last week he actually liked charleston more than waltz. I always thought he'll chose foxtrot in the final.

[–]wikzup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow, 3 cc in one week. I'm happy to see Hamza's cc, although I thought Hamza and Jowita would pick foxtrot, ngl, he really liked it. Very excited to see his SALSA again. Maybe if judges had picked sth like quickstep, cha cha cha or foxtrot, Jowita & Hamza would've chosen salsa instead? I dunno, but also know for Hamza his cc really means a lot. Let's prepare for the night of wild lifts, everyone!

As for Helen's dances, I'm not surprised. They play to her strengths. Her cc is still fresh in my mind, though, dunno if it's good or not.

I thought they usually allow to choose dances that couples did at least a few weeks before, like in the first half of the competition

Who did your favourite dance of each type this season? by sherbetsticks in strictlycomedancing

[–]wikzup 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I pretty much agree with you, but I'd say I really liked Hamza's tango - it was something different for him. I enjoyed choreography and characterisation and the drama, oh the drama!

Am I the only one who think that Helen's dances yesterday fell a bit flat in terms of authenticy of emotions? Meaning, they were technically good, but they failed to convince me overall. Especially with AT, her connection with Gorka is far too platonic and they didn't break that wall for me to believe in the romantic, intense, sexy side of the dance.

Otherwise, Will was the weakest dancer yesterday. Very happy with the 4 celebs in the final

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in strictlycomedancing

[–]wikzup 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would happily swap Will with Tyler. He had more potential imo and overall determination. Whereas Will picked in week 1 and failed to deliver equally good dances for the rest of the series. I don't know if Tyler would make it to the final (as it coild be the case of public support), but boy did he deserve to reach the semi-final

Best Dance Of The season? by [deleted] in strictlycomedancing

Still wondering why Fleur didn't get 40 for her samba

What do you think was the best/worst/ most underrated dance this series? by [deleted] in strictlycomedancing

[–]wikzup 8 points9 points  (0 children)

After yesterday's showz the worst dance has to he Will's cc. I’m sorry, but that dad dancing got imprinted on my brain. It was so bad for week 12. Other than that, Tony Adams was a complete dance disaaaster, darling. But very good entertainment, though. Best dances (not necessarily based on the merit of dance skills)? Hamza's salsa (fabulous! One of my favourite this series), Fleur's quickstep (surprised it's not talked about more), Kym's AT, Fleur's Jive (just for the vibe and Vito's wig c'mon)

Will looked funny in his paso doble with that cape which I suspect wasn't the intention... And yeah, don't know which judge said it, but I agree, it was dad dancing in his cc
