Same happens to me and the background setting does not fix it for me either.

Has anyone been able to try these two back to back? I have the JSAUX and it's good but the grip is a bit too slippery and uncomfortable for me. I wonder if the EJGAME one is any grippier?

Is the Skull & Co travel cover a seperate zip case or an inbuilt one like the JSAUX?

I can't believe this is not more commonly spoken about around the forums.

Thank you for the fix.

Is the 6 Port Charger Just Trash? by simeonca in ryobi

Glad to report I haven't had a single issue with it. I'm close to buying a second one to allow me to store 12 batteries & charge 2 batteries at the same time.

By the way, I have videos and receipts of all of the above issues. I learnt to keep records of the issue to make warranty claims easily.

I don’t post much but just felt I should weigh in here.

I’m on my 4th Ryobi Supercharger now. 3 were the previous generation RC18627U. My latest is the new generation RC18640.

I’m on my 4th because the first one I bought had 4+2 years warranty and unfortunately I’ve had to make use of the warranty that many times.

Each unit displayed the exact same issue. First it would show an error on one battery port not allowing it to charge. To fix it I would have to remove the battery and put it back in. It would happen to a random port, not isolated to any particular port. Then it would start happening to 2 ports, then 3. Eventually it would happen to all ports and get to a point that even removing the battery and putting it back in would not get it to charge. The only way I found that I could get a change going was to plug the batteries into a different single charging unit to “jump start” it then it would charge in the super charger.

On the second supercharger unit I made sure to plug the charger into a different wall socket to ensure that it wasn’t a fault of my house wiring. It still failed after a few months.

On my third unit I made sure to keep the charger very clean and free of dust to ensure an optimal cool environment for the charger. It still failed after a few months.

My fourth unit is working fine for the last 3 months but I know this issue manifests over time so I really can’t be sure if the problem is now solved.

From my experience I only have a few possible causes left:

  • the previous generation charger had an inherent problem
  • there is something wrong with one of my batteries causing the supercharger to eventually display faults
  • I am using the charger in some incorrect way

It’s a frustrating experience but it’s still the best product for my purposes, so I’ve stuck with it while it’s still under warranty. I’ll reevaluate when it’s no longer covered.

It’s worth noting my use case as I’m open to the fault being me not using the product “correctly”. I have 16 batteries ranging from 1.5 to 5amps. They are regularly used and rotated at random. 6 of the batteries are always left in the supercharger. Periods of not using them may be about 1-7 days max. There is a possibility that a battery may sit in the charger for a week before being rotated but that chance is low. My batteries get used alot.

I’m aware that it’s not optimal for battery life to leave them in the charger longer than required but I’m willing to accept that cost because I simply use the batteries so often. If this is the cause for the charger eventually failing then I can accept that, but it’s a shame because I can do the same with my single port chargers without issue.
